Job description

About the Company: Tools for Humanity (TFH) designs and builds technology behind World. World is building a real human network designed to accelerate people in the age of AI. As bots and autonomous agents reshape the internet, people, institutions, and applications need a trusted way to confirm who is a real human while preserving privacy. The TFH and World tech stacks make this possible: the Orb verifies real, unique people, World ID proves it privately, and World App puts these capabilities, and more, in people’s hands. Together, they add a human layer to an AI-driven internet. World is already running at a global scale. More than 17 million people across 160 countries have verified with World ID, and more new Orb verifications take place each week. World App is already among the most used wallets globally. Developers are integrating World ID to build safer online experiences and create spaces where real people can participate, earn, and be recognized in ways AI simply can’t replicate. Founded in 2019, TFH has more than 400 people across hardware, software, AI, cryptography, mobile engineering, and global operations. Our teams come from OpenAI, Tesla, SpaceX, Apple, Google, Stripe, Meta, Coinbase, Palantir and MIT Media Lab. We’re backed by leading investors, including a16z, Khosla Ventures, Bain Capital Crypto, Blockchain Capital, Variant, Tiger Global, and Coinbase Ventures, as well as prominent operators and founders across fintech and AI. TFH and World have been featured on the cover of TIME Magazine time.com, highlighted in Fast Company’s fastcompany.com Next 5 in Fintech, and explored in a Bloomberg deep dive bloomberg.com. The New York Times nytimes.com, Bankless youtube.com and TechCrunch techcrunch.com have all recognized our collective progress in identity, cryptography, AI, and global-scale hardware deployment. Our leadership is also named to the Time AI 100 time.com. Learn more about the newest product launches from our Liftoff world.org event. About the Role: We are building a generational brand with World - one of the leading projects in the age of AI. We’re not just aiming to join the ranks of iconic tech companies; we’re building something the world hasn’t seen before. That’s why we’re looking for someone who not only brings deep experience but is excited to help invent a new kind of design practice, without a blueprint. Someone ready to shape what a brand like this can become. We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer who can craft intuitive, high-quality digital experiences across our ecosystem, with a primary focus on web (90%) and product design (10%). You’ll operate at the intersection of brand, marketing, and digital, combining systems thinking, interaction design, and exceptional visual craft to create everything from high-traffic websites to bespoke digital and product experiences. As AI becomes a core part of our design practice, we're looking for someone who sees it not as a feature, but as a creative and production partner—using it to dramatically accelerate ideation, exploration, iteration, prototyping, and execution while maintaining an uncompromising standard of quality. You’re excited to help define what an AI-native design practice looks like, where human judgment and craft are amplified by emerging tools to produce better work, faster. You are a strong communicator and collaborator who can translate complex ideas into elegant, user-centered experiences. You care deeply about craft and hold a high bar for quality, while also bringing an “afterburner on” mindset - moving fast, iterating quickly and doing whatever it takes to get great experiences live. This role reports to the Head of Brand Design and collaborates frequently with the Global Web Content Lead. Based in San Francisco, in-office minimum 4 days per week. What You'll Do: - Design and evolve multiple high-traffic websites across the World, World Foundation and Tools for Humanity brands - designing website UI/UX and interaction design end-to-end. - Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes and high-fidelity designs that deliver clear, intuitive and engaging web experiences. - Collaborate closely with marketing, content and brand teams to translate messaging into effective user journeys and digital experiences. - Partner closely with developers to bring designs to life - from concept through handoff to QA - ensuring pixel-perfect execution and high performance. - Apply strong UX thinking to simplify complex concepts (e.g., identity, crypto, AI) into approachable, human-centered interfaces. - Contribute to design systems and patterns that ensure consistency and scalability across web and, occasionally, product surfaces. - Use data and insights (analytics, user behavior, A/B testing) to iterate on designs and continuously improve performance and usability. - Ensure all work meets a high craft standard - balancing visual design, interaction quality and usability across every touchpoint. - Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, moving quickly from concept to launch while maintaining attention to detail. - Help define and evolve how UI/UX design operates within the marketing department - bringing structure, taste and speed to an emerging design practice. About You: - 5–7+ years of experience in website UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing both strategic thinking and high-quality execution. - Proven experience designing high-traffic websites, with a deep understanding of responsive design, interaction patterns and usability best practices. - Strong visual design skills with a high craft standard - attention to typography, layout, spacing, and interaction details. - Experience working across both marketing and product surfaces, with the ability to flex between brand expression and functional UX. - Expert in Figma and modern AI-assisted design workflows, including rapid prototyping, design system generation, content generation, and Figma-to-code pipelines. - Be a passionate self-starter with an “afterburner on” approach - ready to jump in, solve problems and push projects forward in a fast-paced environment. - Extremely comfortable collaborating with developers and understanding technical constraints to ensure smooth implementation. - Data-first mindset, with experience using analytics and user insights to guide design decisions. - Highly organized, resourceful and adaptable - able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Radical end-to-end ownership: you take initiative, drive progress and get things done. - You possess US work authorization and are excited about a collaborative, in-office role in San Francisco’s design district. - Occasional travel to the field and quarterly offsites. - Bonus skills (any of the following are valued but not required): mobile UI/UX design, product design, motion design, front-end development (HTML/CSS), SEO. We are a fast-paced startup with extremely high ambitions. We are also fun and making a genuine impact on the world. What We Offer: - An open, collaborative office space in San Francisco - Flexible, unlimited PTO - Monthly phone reimbursement or company-provided device - Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and mental health coverage - 401(k) plan with employer match - Commuter benefits and professional development stipend Pay transparency statement (for CA and NY based roles): The reasonably estimated salary for this role at TFH ranges from $175,000 – $205,000, plus a competitive long term incentive package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
