Senior Product Designer at Zeta Global

Job description

WHO WE ARE Zeta Global (NYSE: ZETA) is the AI-Powered Marketing Cloud that leverages advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and trillions of consumer signals to make it easier for marketers to acquire, grow, and retain customers more efficiently. Through the Zeta Marketing Platform (ZMP), our vision is to make sophisticated marketing simple by unifying identity, intelligence, and omnichannel activation into a single platform – powered by one of the industry’s largest proprietary databases and AI. Our enterprise customers across multiple verticals are empowered to personalize experiences with consumers at an individual level across every channel, delivering better results for marketing programs. Zeta was founded in 2007 by David A. Steinberg and John Sculley and is headquartered in New York City with offices around the world. To learn more, go to www.zetaglobal.com . About the Role We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape the future of the Zeta Marketing Platform (ZMP) across our core ZMP platform, Athena OS (our next-generation Marketing Operating System), our emerging Agentic Apps ecosystem, and our Data Cloud team. This role sits at the center of the Product Design team, working wherever the highest-leverage design problems are, rather than owning a single surface. You'll partner closely with our design system team and with Product and Engineering triads across each area, helping translate complex platform and data requirements into experiences that are clear, consistent, and genuinely useful for our customers. You'll join at a pivotal moment where we're raising the bar on quality, speed, and innovation across the platform. We're looking for someone who can challenge us in the best way: bringing strong skills in data visualization, UX, visual design, systems thinking, motion, and AI to push our thinking forward and help us achieve what hasn't been done before. This is a 6 month contract opportunity. What You'll Do Design Across the Platform Own and evolve Data Visualization focused experiences across ZMP, Athena OS, Agentic Apps, and Data Cloud–facing surfaces, moving fluidly between areas as priorities shift. Manage and improve shared design processes and provide quality oversight. You'll contribute to the systematic foundation that enables consistency, scalability, and exceptional quality across our entire product ecosystem. Partner Closely with Product & Engineering Work as a core triad partner with Product Management and Engineering to define strategy, scope, and execution, translating complex requirements and technical constraints into clear, intuitive experiences. Iterate and improve on concepts across these areas to deliver on unique customer use cases. Advance AI-Driven & Data-Rich Design Patterns Contribute to AI interaction models, agentic patterns, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) thinking where relevant, while also shaping how data from Data Cloud and across the platform is surfaced, visualized, and understood, helping define how users understand, trust, and act on the systems and data inside a marketing operating system. Raise the Bar on Craft, Motion, and Interaction Quality Lead by example through strong visual design, interaction design, motion, prototyping, and data visualization, setting a new quality bar for speed, clarity, and polish across the platform. This includes knowing when a chart, table, or single number best communicates a piece of data, and holding a high bar for clarity in anything that surfaces data to users or executives. Influence, Mentor, and Scale Design Impact Act as a force multiplier for the design team by mentoring designers, reviewing work, and challenging assumptions while creating the systems, interfaces, and processes that enable the company to scale high-quality product design with speed, consistency, and confidence across ZMP, Athena OS, Agentic Apps, and Data Cloud. What You Bring Core Skills Platform & Systems Design Expertise: Proven ability to design scalable systems, frameworks, and interfaces that support consistency, flexibility, and speed across complex product ecosystems. Comfortable moving across a large platform like ZMP rather than owning one narrow surface. Deep experience working in both Figma and Ai tools, leveraging structured libraries, reusable patterns, and scalable design foundations. AI & Agentic Design Fluency: Solid understanding of AI-powered workflows, agentic systems, and emerging interaction patterns, with hands-on experience using AI tools to inform, accelerate, and enhance product design. Comfortable designing experiences shaped by models, context, and automation, not just static interfaces. End-to-End Product Design Craft: Excellence across UX, visual design, interaction design, motion, and a strong emphasis in data visualization, with the ability to design sophisticated workflows that feel intuitive, human, and high-quality, especially in technically complex environments. Strong Product Thinking: Can clearly articulate problem → user job → system behavior → outcome. Comfortable designing flows where intent matters more than screens. Knows when not to add UI. Motion & Micro-Interaction Design: Strong understanding of animation as UX, not decoration. Uses motion to explain system state changes, communicate AI progress and confidence, and reduce perceived latency. Designs micro-interactions for loading → ready, generating → refining, and success/failure/partial results. Motion should make the system feel alive, responsive, and understandable—especially when AI is working in the background. Technical Collaboration & Prototyping: Strong comfort partnering with engineers, understanding technical constraints, and using prototyping (low- and high-fidelity, coded or no-code) to explore, validate, and communicate complex ideas. Design Leadership Without Authority: Ability to influence outcomes through clarity, critique, documentation, and example-setting—raising the bar for quality and consistency across teams without relying on formal management. Also Core to This Role Data Visualization Zeta surfaces a lot of data back to marketers and executives, so this isn't a nice-to-have—it's a core competency we're hiring for alongside AI and systems design. Data Visualization Fluency: Able to speak confidently to data visualization principles with designers, PMs, engineers, and executives alike. Guides and implements data visualization design best practices across the platform. Proper Chart Usage: Ensures the right chart type is used for the right data, prioritizing clarity of information over decoration, and knowing when a table, a number, or a chart best answers the user's question. Executive Stakeholder Management: Comfortable presenting data-heavy design work to executive stakeholders, gathering and synthesizing their feedback, and balancing that input with best practices and user needs. Tools Design & Systems Figma (expert level): Deep experience with scalable component architecture, variants, auto-layout, design tokens, and shared libraries Rive, FigJam, Figma Slides AI-Native Design Tools Hands-on, regular use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar LLMs as part of your design workflow—for ideation, exploration, synthesis, critique, and system thinking AI-Assisted Build & Prototyping Comfort using tools like Cursor, Bolt, Lovable, Claude Code, or similar to prototype and experiment on AI-enabled experiences Familiarity with Storybook, React/Next.js Motion & Interaction Experience with Rive, Motion.dev, Framer Motion, GSAP, or D3 to design micro-animations and stateful interactions that communicate system behavior and progress Prototyping Strong comfort with Figma Prototypes, Framer, ProtoPie, or similar to explore behavior, timing, and interaction Technical Fluency Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and modern frontend concepts, with the ability to read code, collaborate deeply with engineers, and understand implementation tradeoffs Collaboration Comfort with modern product development workflows: GitHub, Jira, Linear, Notion, Slack, Confluence Model Context Protocol (MCP) Familiarity with MCP concepts, including how context, memory, tools, and agents influence system behavior and user experience Data Visualization Working knowledge of charting and visualization tools/libraries such as D3, Chart.js, Highcharts, Observable Plot, or Tableau, and how they map to Figma-designed chart components Familiarity with visualization principles: chart type selection, color and encoding for accessibility, axis and label clarity, and information density for executive-level reporting Mindset & Approach High Autonomy: Does not need step-by-step direction. Can take a fuzzy problem and drive it to clarity. Comfortable owning an area end-to-end. Strong Judgment: Knows what's important vs. what's nice. Can say "this doesn't need design" or "this isn't worth solving yet." Optimizes for impact, not aesthetics. Clear Communicator: Explains thinking simply to PMs, Engineering, and Leadership. Writes clear rationale, not just design artifacts. Can disagree without being defensive. Comfort with Ambiguity: Does not freeze when requirements are incomplete. Enjoys shaping the problem space, not just executing tickets. Can operate before things are fully defined. Ownership & Accountability: Treats the product like theirs. Follows through. Cares about outcomes, not just delivery. AI-Forward & Curious: Actively experiments with AI tools, workflows, and emerging technologies, and brings that learning back to the team. Quality Advocate with Pragmatic Judgment: Cares deeply about craft and polish while understanding that perfect is the enemy of good. Knows when to push for excellence and when to ship, learn, and iterate. Experience 7–10+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time spent on complex platforms, systems, or tools (B2B, SaaS, or AI-driven products strongly preferred) Demonstrated experience leading foundational or platform-level design work that scales across teams, products, or workflows Hands-on experience designing and shipping features, workflows, or systems within large, complex platforms—AI-powered or otherwise Proven track record of partnering closely with Product and Engineering in fast-paced environments, ideally across more than one product area or team Experience mentoring designers, influencing standards, and shaping how design work scales—without needing formal management responsibility Experience presenting and iterating on data visualization or dashboard design with executive stakeholders What Makes This Role Unique This is a foundational role on a platform that will define our company's future. Rather than owning a single feature, you'll help shape design across the breadth of the Zeta Marketing Platform. Breadth, not a single lane: You'll work across ZMP, Athena OS, Agentic Apps, and Data Cloud partnerships—wherever the design problem matters most AI and data are core to the product, not an experiment: You'll help ship real, production-grade experiences—agentic and data-driven alike—that customers rely on every day Design has real leverage here: Your systems, patterns, and processes will enable teams across the company to move faster without sacrificing quality True ownership: Help set standards, define best practices, and shape what "great" looks like as the platform scales Compounding impact: The work you do will influence how our products are built, how teams collaborate, and how ZMP evolves as a whole Our Team Philosophy We're evolving how we work to reach the next level: Vision over hand-holding leads to more creativity and innovation Empowerment and delegation leads to more accountability and ownership Strategy and clarity means less management, more impact Challenge and growth creates better outcomes through healthy debate We value people who bring ideas on what we should stop doing, start doing, or change to elevate our team. Ready to help build the future of the Zeta Marketing Platform? We want to hear from you. COMPENSATION RANGE The range for this role is $70-$80/hour, depending on location and experience.
