Junior Software Engineer (React) at Radicle Health

Job description

Radicle Health is a collection of human services software products designed to foster collaboration and innovation, helping organizations better serve their communities. We believe technology plays a crucial role in the success of the human services sector, but no single system can meet the diverse needs of every agency. That’s why we’ve built Radicle Health as a home for mission-driven products that support organizations in delivering essential services. Under one roof, our teams learn from each other, test ideas faster, and think holistically about the individuals and communities we serve. At Radicle Health, you'll do meaningful work alongside people who genuinely care about our mission, our customers, and each other. Here, you're free to show up as your full self, celebrating wins, having fun, and knowing you're truly part of something bigger. You will have real ownership of your work and your contributions will have a direct impact on our success. We're invested in your growth because when you grow, so do we. About the Role: As a Software Engineer, you will build and ship well-defined features and bug fixes across the full stack, with a focus on React user interfaces backed by .NET Core APIs and SQL Server. You will work closely with experienced engineers, who will guide you on approach and design while you build the technical depth and product knowledge needed to take on more ownership over time. Because we work with healthcare and human services data, good data-handling practices are also part of the job. You will be expected to follow Radicle Health's HIPAA and data-handling guidelines, including when using AI-assisted tools. Development and testing should use mocked or anonymized data rather than real customer PHI. What You'll Do: Build and ship well-defined features and bug fixes across the full stack, with a focus on responsive, accessible React user interfaces backed by .NET Core APIs and SQL Server. Follow our best practices for code quality, testing, and the development process, including source control and deployment workflows, with support from colleagues on approach and design. Take ownership of your work through launch and beyond, quickly noticing and addressing bugs, regressions, and open questions related to the code you shipped. Collaborate actively with the team by giving and welcoming thoughtful feedback in pull request reviews, asking good questions in technical discussions, and asking for help early when you’re blocked. Protect sensitive data in line with Radicle Health’s guidelines for PHI, using mocked or anonymized data in development and testing, including when using AI tools. Build a strong understanding of our products, customers, and the Health and Human Services domain, and grow toward independently designing and delivering features with less direction. What You Bring: 1–3 years of experience in software development, whether professional, internship, academic, or personal projects. A BS degree, or equivalent professional experience or certifications. Working knowledge of React, including hooks, component composition, and state and props. Solid JavaScript skills and experience with HTML/CSS, including building responsive and accessible UI. Some experience with C# and with state management tools such as Redux or React Query. A working understanding of full-stack development and how the layers of an application communicate. A foundational understanding of data structures and algorithms. A basic understanding of source code management (such as Git) and deployment tools. A track record of contributing to the delivery of a feature or project, and the ability to clearly describe your role in it. A sense of ownership and accountability for the quality of your work. A collaborative approach to working with other engineers, product managers, and QA, including openness to feedback. An understanding of the responsibility that comes with building healthcare software, and of the importance of protecting PHI and other sensitive customer information. Helpful, but not required: Experience with Fluent UI Experience with front-end testing, such as Jest or React Testing Library Experience with a relational database, such as SQL Server, Postgres, or similar Experience building or consuming REST APIs with .NET Core Experience with AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code or Copilot What Success Looks Like: Early in the role, you will focus on learning our products, codebase, tools, and development process. You should be able to reliably deliver well-defined features and bug fixes, participate actively in code reviews, and follow our practices for code quality and data handling. As you grow, you will need less direction on approach and design. You will independently work through problems across the React, .NET Core, and SQL Server layers, notice issues in your shipped code before others do, and bring clear, well-considered questions to the team when you need support. Success in this role is not measured by how much code you write. It is measured by how well you understand what you are building and why, how reliably your work performs once it ships, and how much your teammates can count on you for communication, collaboration, and care with sensitive data. Why This Role: Your work directly contributes to the reliability of software used by organizations serving people and communities that depend on these systems every day. You will get hands-on experience across the full stack and the software development lifecycle, building skills in React, .NET Core, SQL Server, code quality, accessibility, and secure handling of healthcare data. You will work closely with experienced engineers, QA, and product teams, taking on more ownership as your technical skills, judgment, and product knowledge grow.
