Job description

At Breeze, we're building the AI-powered infrastructure layer for global commerce, making it radically simpler for businesses to sell, get paid, and operate across markets. We go far beyond traditional payment processing. Breeze combines global payments, AI, stablecoins, and a Merchant of Record-like model to take on the complexity businesses typically manage themselves, including compliance, risk, fraud, chargebacks, reconciliation, and customer support. Our goal is simple: let businesses focus on building and selling great products while Breeze handles the complexity behind getting paid. Backed by Sequoia Capital , Multicoin Capital , and The Chainsmokers , Breeze is a successful, rapidly growing, and exceptionally well-capitalized company. We have the runway to think long term while remaining early enough that every person joining today can have a meaningful impact on what we build. Overview Want to build products that sit at the heart of how money moves? We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the technology powering Breeze. As our first senior engineer in our New York City office, you will be hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll work across the stack, partner closely with Product and Design, and have plenty of white space to improve how we build. We’re looking for an engineer who combines strong technical judgment with a product mindset. Someone who moves fast, cares deeply about quality, and gets excited about turning complex payments problems into simple, reliable experiences. If you want to build, not just maintain, and have a meaningful impact on both our product and engineering culture, we’d love to meet you. What You’ll Do Build and scale the core payment systems that power Breeze, with a focus on reliability, security, and performance Ship high-quality customer experiences using React.js and modern serverless infrastructure Own meaningful features end to end, from technical design and architecture through launch and iteration Shape both the product and the technology, bringing an engineering perspective to product decisions and influencing what we build next Partner closely across Product, Design, Operations, and other teams to turn complex payment challenges into simple, scalable solutions Help raise the engineering bar by improving how we build, move quickly, and scale our systems as Breeze grow What We're Looking For Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience 7+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in fintech, payments, or a fast-paced startup environment Strong experience with modern frontend development, including React.js or similar frameworks and technologies Proven ability to own and deliver complex features and systems, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Deep understanding of building scalable, reliable systems, with exposure to cloud-based or serverless infrastructure A product-focused mindset with a passion for building thoughtful, high-quality experiences that solve real customer problems Strong communicator who collaborates effectively across Engineering, Product, Design, and other cross-functional teams A builder mentality with the curiosity, adaptability, and ownership needed to thrive in a fast-moving startup Experience with cryptocurrency or blockchain is a plus Our Compensation Philosophy! Grow with Breeze: As Breeze grows, strong performers can quickly expand their scope and take on bigger problems. Build for the long term: Backed by Sequoia Capital, Multicoin Capital, and The Chainsmokers, we're exceptionally well-capitalized with the runway to think big. In-Office Expectations Employees based in our New York City, NY office follow a hybrid work model and are expected to work from the office three days per week . Employees based in our Singapore office are expected to work on-site five days per week . In-office expectations may vary slightly depending on role, team, and business needs. Certain roles that require closer cross-functional collaboration or operational support may have additional requirements, which will be discussed during the interview process. Our approach is designed to support meaningful in-person collaboration, team building, and real-time decision-making while providing flexibility where applicable. We believe this structure enables strong execution, close collaboration, and effective teamwork across our global offices. Come Build With Us! We offer a rare combination: the ownership and speed of an early-stage company with the traction, backing, and financial foundations of a successful business. We're building at the convergence of AI, payments, stablecoins, financial infrastructure, and global commerce. The opportunity is much bigger than building another payment processor. We're building the intelligent infrastructure layer for global commerce, and there's still an enormous amount left to build. If you want meaningful ownership, hard problems, exceptional teammates, and the opportunity to help define what comes next, we'd love to hear from you!
