In addition to strong technical skills, candidates should have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, be comfortable translating ambiguous requirements into well-defined designs, and be able to hire, mentor, and develop engineers with diverse working styles. 7+ years of relevant industry experience shipping critical deliverables 1+ years of experience directly managing software engineers Proficiency in Java and accompanying frameworks Solid understanding of highly available distributed systems and relational databases Working knowledge of security fundamentals, such as PKI, x.509, authentication protocols, and cryptographic primitives Outstanding verbal and written communication skills 2-3 years of people management experience Proven track record in designing, leading, and shipping mission-critical services that run at a global scale Experience with hardware security modules (HSMs) or key management systems Proven track record in leading large cross-functional teams in mission-critical initiatives Proven track record in presenting to senior leadership and executives, ability to read the room, and represent the project team appropriately
