Job description

ABOUT READ AI: At Read AI read.ai redefining how teams collaborate by bringing intelligence to every conversation. Our platform supercharges productivity across meetings, messages, and email, so work gets done faster, smarter, and with better focus. We integrate seamlessly with tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack, and more, helping teams stay aligned and move forward, whether they’re in the same room or across time zones. Backed by $81 million in funding from Smash Capital, Madrona, and Goodwater Capital, Read AI is growing. If you're excited to shape the future of AI-powered collaboration and want to make an impact at a product-focused startup, we’d love to meet you. THE ROLE: We're looking for a Product Designer to join our team and own design across our most critical growth surfaces. This is a new function — you'll be the first designer dedicated to Growth at Read AI — which means a genuine opportunity to build something from scratch rather than inherit someone else's playbook. You'll work at the intersection of product design and growth strategy, partnering closely with our Growth PM, engineers, and the broader design team to redesign how new users experience Read AI and how existing users expand into paying customers. Your work will be directly connected to activation rates, conversion metrics, and revenue growth — and you'll see the results of your design decisions in the data. This role reports into the Design team with dedicated focus on Growth. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Own activation and onboarding - Define and redesign the end-to-end new user experience, from first sign-up to first value moment - Identify the biggest drop-off points in our onboarding funnel and design solutions to address them - Partner with PM and data to set activation benchmarks and measure impact Drive conversion and monetization UX - Own the design of paywalls, upgrade prompts, and trial-to-paid conversion surfaces - Improve the quality and performance of these moments through iterative experimentation - Develop a deep understanding of what motivates users to upgrade — and design for it Build the growth design workflow - Establish how design integrates into Read AI's growth experiment cycle - Create reusable components, templates, and patterns for growth surfaces - Move experiments faster without sacrificing craft quality Be a genuine growth partner - Bring design-led hypotheses into growth planning and roadmapping - Interpret experiment results alongside PM and data, and use them to inform the next design iteration - Where growth patterns should become product-wide patterns, work with the broader design team to elevate them WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: - 2–5 years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating craft and design thinking - Experience or demonstrated interest in activation, onboarding, conversion, or growth-adjacent UX - Comfortable in a test-and-learn environment — you know how to scope design for experiments and iterate on results - Self-directed: you can make progress without a playbook, a predecessor to inherit from, or constant direction - Strong collaborator with PMs and engineers; you build trust quickly and keep design from becoming a bottleneck - Fluent in reading funnel data and using quantitative signals to sharpen design decisions NICE TO HAVE: - Prior experience in a growth-specific design role or at a company running a high-velocity experiment program - Familiarity with B2B SaaS products and the enterprise user journey - Experience contributing to or building a design system - Comfort with tools like Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar analytics platforms WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS: Read AI has strong product-market fit and a growing user base — but our onboarding and conversion experiences haven't caught up with the potential of the product. Users arrive, explore, and sometimes leave before they've seen what makes Read AI genuinely useful. This designer's job is to close that gap. The impact is direct: better activation means more users reach their first value moment; better conversion means the business grows. You'll own the surfaces that make both of those things happen, at a company where design is treated as a strategic input — not a polish step at the end. Why Read AI? - Greenfield ownership at an early career stage — You're not inheriting someone else's system. You're building the Growth design function. - Your work connects directly to company outcomes — Activation and conversion are mission-critical. The impact of your design decisions shows up in the numbers. - A product people genuinely love — Read AI is something users rely on every workday. You're improving something that already has traction. - A real seat at the growth table — You'll be a thought partner in growth strategy, not just a mockup producer. - A small, high-caliber team moving fast — You'll learn from strong collaborators and have real influence on how the company operates. - Growth Opportunities — Read AI is the fastest growing AI-copilot and meeting notetaker in history, and is on pace to be one of the fastest growing consumer AI companies in the world, adding more than 1MM new customers every month. The company raised Series A and B in 2024, and was noted as a Top Company To Watch in 2025 by Inc Magazine. - Leadership — Learn more about CEO and Co-Founder David Shim in this Fortune Good Life profile fortune.com from July 2025; CTO and Co-Founder Rob Williams was recently anointed as one of the most disruptive leaders in AI builtin.com; and Co-Founder and VP Data Science Elliott Waldron goes behind-the-scenes on our patents and models in this tech brief read.ai.. - Collaborative Culture — Work in a supportive and collaborative environment with a diverse and talented team. The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $160,000 plus equity and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer low deductible health plans, as well as flexible time away and family leave programs. Please note our company does not provide visa support or sponsorship for employees.
