Job description

Job Title: Creative Director Job Type: Full-Time Location: United States - Remote; Preferred: Denver, CO - Hybrid (Candidates local to Denver, CO will be expected to be on-site 3 days per week) About CloudBees CloudBees helps organizations build, run, and govern software factories, giving enterprises the confidence to ship software better, faster, and safer. Writing code is no longer the bottleneck. Governing what reaches production and validating its impact is. As enterprises adopt agentic coding, software is created faster than most teams can review, secure, and validate. Without consistent governance, organizations risk shipping code they cannot explain, audit, or trust. CloudBees addresses this challenge without asking teams to replace the tools they already use. Across every toolchain a customer runs, CloudBees makes each change, human or AI, visible, auditable, and accountable before it reaches production. CloudBees Unify is the product behind this: a governance layer, with context and control-plane capabilities, that enforces consistent policy and evidence across every tool, team, and workflow. Founded in 2010, CloudBees is backed by Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Bridgepoint Capital, HSBC, Golub Capital, Delta-v Capital, Matrix Partners, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Visit us at www.cloudbees.com . Requirements About the Role CloudBees is looking for a Creative Director to lead the creative sub-function across our global Marketing organization. You will set the creative vision, build the system that turns strategy into distinctive work, and raise the quality of how CloudBees shows up across every customer and employee touchpoint. This is an M5 leadership role. You will lead a department for one discipline, manage managers and senior creatives, own its talent strategy, and set execution standards for the work. You will partner closely with Brand and Corporate Marketing, Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Web, Communications, Sales, Product, and executive leadership. The right leader combines taste with operating discipline. You can turn a company narrative into work that earns attention from developers and enterprise buyers, make hard prioritization calls, and ship excellent creative with urgency. You understand where AI can remove low-value work and expand exploration—without outsourcing judgment, originality, or craft. What You'll Own Creative Strategy & Direction • Set the creative strategy for CloudBees, aligned to company positioning, product priorities, customer insight, and go-to-market goals. • Translate the company narrative into a clear creative point of view that works across brand, campaigns, launches, content, web, events, social, and sales experiences. • Make the calls that protect distinctiveness and coherence: where to push, where to simplify, and where a good idea needs another round. Brand Expression & Integrated Work • Own the creative expression of the CloudBees brand across visual identity, copy, motion, digital experiences, presentations, events, and executive communications. • Lead integrated creative for major campaigns and product moments, from concept through launch, so the work feels connected across channels rather than assembled channel by channel. • Build work that earns credibility with developers, platform engineers, enterprise technology leaders, customers, partners, and candidates. • Evolve the design system, templates, standards, and toolkits that help teams move quickly without flattening the brand. Team & Talent Leadership • Lead and develop managers, senior creatives, and specialist talent across design, content, copy, motion, digital, and related disciplines. • Own the talent strategy for the creative sub-function: organization design, hiring, role clarity, performance, succession, capability building, and use of agency or freelance partners. • Create a culture where direct feedback improves the work, high standards do not become perfectionism, and people have the context and authority to make strong decisions. Creative Operations & Business Impact • Own the sub-function’s delivery commitments and measurable contribution to pipeline goals, along with its budget, agency relationships, intake model, prioritization, capacity planning, and quality standards. • Build an operating rhythm that makes priorities, decisions, dependencies, and progress visible to stakeholders. • Use audience response, campaign performance, customer insight, and qualitative feedback to evaluate the work and improve it—without reducing creative quality to a dashboard. • Introduce AI-enabled workflows that accelerate research, exploration, production, and reuse while protecting brand integrity, intellectual property, and human accountability. • Serve as a key cross-functional partner in the go-to-market motion, bringing a strong creative point of view and committing fully once decisions are made. What Success Looks Like • CloudBees has a recognizable, coherent creative expression that makes the company’s software-factory and AI-governance narrative easier to understand and remember. • Campaigns and launches arrive with one connected idea, high-quality execution, and clear evidence of audience and pipeline impact. • The Creative team delivers reliably, makes disciplined prioritization decisions, and scales through strong systems rather than heroics. • Managers and senior creatives grow into broader ownership, and the function has a credible bench and succession plan. • Marketing, Product, and Sales leaders see Creative as a strategic partner that improves the work—not a production queue at the end of it. What You'll Bring • 10+ years of progressive creative leadership experience across brand, design, advertising, content, or integrated marketing, ideally in enterprise technology, B2B SaaS, developer tools, or another complex category. • Experience leading a creative sub-function or department, including managing managers and developing senior creative leaders. • A portfolio of distinctive, integrated work that shows strategic thinking, craft, and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling stories. • Demonstrated success building and evolving brand systems across digital, campaign, event, social, video, presentation, and product-adjacent experiences. • Strong operating discipline: prioritization, resource and budget management, agency leadership, creative operations, and delivery across multiple teams and regions. • The judgment to be hands-on where your leadership changes the outcome without becoming the approval bottleneck for every piece of work. • Fluency with AI-enabled creative workflows and a clear point of view on where AI improves the process—and where human judgment must lead. • Executive-level communication skills and the confidence to explain, defend, and evolve a creative direction using customer insight, evidence, and business context. • Experience creating credible work for technical audiences is strongly preferred. • Customer Obsessed — You treat customer problems as your own and build relationships with the people behind the logo, not just the account. You can point to decisions you changed because of what a customer told you. • High Agency — You own problems beyond your job description and move without waiting to be asked. When the path isn't defined, you make the call and bring people with you rather than working around them. • Truth Seeking — You hold a strong point of view and update it when the data says otherwise. You argue for the best answer regardless of who's in the room, and once a decision is made, you commit to it fully. • Hard Work — You own the end result, not just your slice of it, and you go beyond what's expected to get there. You work smart as well as hard, and you find real reward in building something demanding alongside people who do the same. • Ship Excellence — You hold a painfully high quality bar and keep raising it, while shipping with urgency instead of waiting for perfect. Every iteration is something you learn from. • Direct Feedback — You give honest, constructive feedback regardless of seniority or tenure, and you actively ask for it in return. You deliver it with enough care that people want to hear it from you. Compensation & Benefits • Base Pay Range: $160,000 - $200,000 annually. In accordance with applicable law, this represents a reasonable estimated compensation range for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location and may be more or less than the amount shown above. Outside of base compensation, CloudBees also offer stock options and variable bonuses. What CloudBees Offers • Time that's actually yours. Our BEE-Flexible PTO policy folds vacation, sick time, and personal days into one unlimited plan. Plus paid U.S. holidays and 2 dedicated Bee-Giving Days to volunteer for a cause you care about. • Health coverage from day one. You're eligible on your start date, not 90 days in. Choose from medical, dental and vision options designed to support your healthcare needs. Choose an HDHP plan and we will contribute to your HSA on top of your own pre-tax contributions. • Real money toward your future. Invest in your future with a competitive 401(k) company match, offering both pre-tax and Roth options to help you reach your financial goals. • Protection we pay for entirely. We fully fund your Life and AD&D, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability protection. Plus our Employee Assistance Program is fully covered too. • Support for your headspace - literally. All Bees have access to a company-sponsored Headspace account. Plus, a dedicated Care Concierge service in the U.S. so you never have to decode a benefits question alone. • A home office that works. A stipend every month toward your work-from-home setup in addition to the opportunity to work (hybrid for Denver, CO employees) in an office with your peers. • Upside when we win. Base salary is the floor. Our bonus plan rewards for the goals you deliver and the growth we drive together. • People who sweat the craft. A team that takes its work seriously and invests in each other's growth. • A global, collaborative team that lives by our values: Customer Obsessed, High Agency, Truth Seeking, Hard Work, Ship Excellence, Direct Feedback.
