Job description

ABOUT CODE METAL Code Metal is the leader in automated software engineering you can trust. As AI writes more of the world's code, the bottleneck in software has shifted from writing code to verifying it works, and AI cannot verify its own work with certainty. Code Metal takes a fundamentally different approach: constrain AI to what it does reliably, verify every step independently of the model using formal methods, and keep engineers in the loop on the decisions that matter. The result isn't code that probably works — it's code that is provably correct, with auditable proof. Customers including the U.S. Air Force, L3Harris, RTX, and Toshiba use Code Metal to modernize legacy code, optimize performance on real hardware, and move prototypes to production, fast. Founded in 2023 with offices in Boston and San Francisco, Code Metal is funded by Accel, Salesforce Ventures, B Capital, Smith Point Capital, J2 Ventures, Shield Capital, Overmatch, RTX, and others. ABOUT THE ROLE: As a Deployment Strategist, you'll work with engineers (core and forward deployed), product, and growth team members to deploy software against the most urgent problems faced by our Government customers. Your mission is to synthesize disconnected streams of thought into a cohesive understanding of what the end user’s most urgent problems are, what the product needs, what users are motivated by, where the impact could be, and who else has similar problems that Code Metal can address. Deployment Strategists are do-ers who immerse themselves in our customers' most intricate workflows, partner with customer teams, dive into improving the product, and enable us to scale. The problems you'll tackle will require a curious and analytical mindset, a sharp intuition for product, humility about how what we’re building will never be done, and a strong degree of empathy to ultimately empower our customers to make better decisions. WHAT YOU WILL DO: - Go onsite and meet with end users to understand the critical questions they need to answer and locate their biggest pain points. - Identify relevant features through deep engagement with customer problems and workflows, and work with Forward Deployed Engineers to integrate the features in a stable and extensible way. - Embed with our Engineering and Product teams to incorporate what you see in the field into Code Metal product offerings. - Work with the customer to build bespoke workflows for new user groups. - Lead training sessions to ensure that the product is meeting user needs, and to ensure it is being used widely enough to have concrete impact on our partners' operations. - Become our customers’ trusted teammate, drive adoption, keep customers happy. - Build and deliver demos to new and existing customers. - Scope out potential engagements with new customer groups, new advocates, growth opportunities, and potential fallout funds. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: - Former operators who are deeply respected by their communities - Deep understanding of our customers, born of having walked a mile in their shoes - Strong relationships across relevant organizations within the US Government THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING: - Dept. of War component command, or joint logistics / operations roles - Defense policy, acquisition, or program management within DoW or other government agencies - Delivering growth outcomes for defense products, specifically in early-stage or dual-use technology environments MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Active U.S. security clearance TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: - Up to 50% BENEFITS - Pay depends on experience, but we strive to be at the upper end of the salary range - Health care plan with 100% premium coverage, including medical, dental, and vision - 401k with 5% matching - Paid Time Off (uncapped vacation, plus sick and public holidays) - Flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement - Relocation assistance for qualifying employees Wage Transparency - The salary range for this role is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, individual proficiency, skills, experience, and location. We are an equal opportunity employer. US Citizenship may be required for certain project assignments involving security clearance. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
