Job description

Are you passionate about building software that impacts millions of customers? We're looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join our team at Amazon, where you'll design, build, and deliver features that solve real customer problems at scale. In this role, you'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle—from defining product requirements to deploying and operating production systems. You'll tackle complex technical challenges, write high-quality code, and collaborate with talented engineers to create solutions that are maintainable, scalable, and built to last. If you're a self-starter who thrives on turning ambiguous problems into clear, simple designs, we'd love to hear from you. Key job responsibilities - Design and implement software solutions that enable new features and improve existing systems, balancing scalability, maintainability, and performance requirements. - Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including product definition, scoping, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support. - Write well-organized, maintainable code using optimal data structures and algorithms, and actively participate in code reviews to help raise the quality bar across the team. - Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional peers to understand business needs and deliver the right solutions, while mentoring other engineers on your team. - Evaluate opportunities to integrate generative AI tools and new technical approaches into your work, making recommendations to improve team productivity and software quality. A day in the life You'll start your day reviewing operational metrics and addressing any issues from overnight, then shift into focused development work on features that directly improve the customer experience. Expect to pair with teammates on design discussions, participate in code reviews, and occasionally lead deep dives into production issues to identify root causes and permanent fixes. You'll regularly connect with product partners to refine requirements and ensure your solutions align with both customer and technical needs. About the team Our team is focused on building reliable, high-performance software that serves Amazon customers at scale. We value collaboration, technical rigor, and a commitment to continuous improvement. You'll work alongside engineers who are eager to share knowledge, challenge ideas constructively, and support each other's growth. We're investing in new technologies and approaches to push our systems forward, and you'll play a meaningful role in shaping that direction.
