Paralegal, Contract Manager at WEKA

Job description

Paralegal / Contract Manager About The Position WEKA is transforming how organizations build, run, and scale AI and accelerated compute workflows with NeuralMesh™, our intelligent, adaptive mesh storage system. Unlike traditional data infrastructures, which become more fragile as compute environments grow and performance demands increase, NeuralMesh becomes faster, stronger, and more efficient as it scales, providing a flexible, adaptable foundation for enterprise and agentic AI innovation that maximizes GPU utilization, accelerates time to first token, and lowers the cost of innovation. WEKA is a growth-stage company backed by world-class venture capital investors and AI infrastructure industry leaders. Our technology, purpose-built for AI, has garnered over 140 patents and is trusted by more than 30% of Fortune 50 enterprises, as well as the world's leading hyperscalers, neoclouds, and AI innovators. Our team is customer-obsessed and works accountably, boldly, and collaboratively to ensure their success. If we sound like your kind of people, join us! About The Role WEKA's Legal team supports a fast-moving sales organization, a growing partner and neocloud business, and a product that runs inside some of the world's most demanding customer environments. We are hiring a Paralegal / Contract Manager to be the operational backbone of that work: the person who keeps contracts moving from request to signature and keeps the legal function organized, measurable, and efficient. This is a hands-on role for a non-attorney. You will handle first-pass contract reviews and redlines within established playbooks, own the workflows in our contract management system, and support the team's day-to-day operations, including outside counsel invoice review and other legal operations work. You will work closely with Sales, Finance, Procurement, and other business teams, and you will know when a question needs an attorney and route it quickly with the right context. You will report to the General Counsel and work alongside the legal team. The ideal candidate is detail-obsessed, process-minded, and business-savvy. They enjoy making systems work better, give clear answers instead of reflexive escalations, and use AI and automation to take manual work off the team's plate. Key Responsibilities Contract Review & Support Review and redline standard-form agreements, including NDAs, order forms, SOWs, amendments, vendor agreements, and routine customer and partner paper, using WEKA's playbooks and approved fallback language. Respond directly to routine contract questions from the business that do not require attorney involvement, and escalate non-standard terms to the appropriate attorney with a clear summary of the issue and your recommendation. Prepare agreements from templates, manage version control, coordinate approvals, and drive documents through signature. Compile deal context for attorneys on larger matters, such as prior agreements, negotiated positions, and open issues. Contract Lifecycle Management & Legal Operations Administer WEKA's contract lifecycle management system, including workflow design and configuration, templates, approval routing, e-signature, and repository organization and data integrity. Serve as a front door for legal requests: triage by urgency and complexity, route to the right owner, and track requests to completion. Track key dates, renewals, and post-signature obligations, and give business owners proactive notice. Build and maintain contract templates, playbooks, checklists, and self-service resources in partnership with the attorneys. Build reporting and metrics, such as turnaround times, request volumes, and bottlenecks, that help the team see where time is going and where to improve. Identify manual or repetitive work and improve it through better process, automation, and AI tools. Outside Counsel & Budget Support Review outside counsel invoices against engagement terms and billing guidelines, flag discrepancies, and coordinate approvals with the legal team and Finance. Track legal spend by matter and firm, and help prepare budget and forecasting inputs. Help onboard outside counsel and keep engagement letters, rate information, and matter records organized. Other Legal Operations Support Support compliance and diligence activities as needed, such as responding to customer and partner diligence requests, supporting trade compliance screening, and maintaining corporate and entity records. Maintain legal department records, internal knowledge resources, and policy and template libraries. Support special projects across the legal team and the broader business, including support for transactions and audits. Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a paralegal, contract manager, or legal operations professional at a law firm, in-house legal department, or technology company, with substantial hands-on experience reviewing and redlining commercial contracts. Contract fluency: Strong working knowledge of common commercial terms (confidentiality, limitation of liability, indemnification, IP, payment, termination) and the judgment to recognize when a term falls outside the playbook and needs attorney review. Contract management systems: Hands-on experience administering a CLM platform, including workflows, templates, and reporting. Attention to detail: A track record of producing accurate, well-organized work under deadline pressure. You catch the wrong entity name, the stale date, and the missing signature block. Communication: Clear writing and the ability to explain contract issues to non-lawyers in plain language. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. Confidentiality: Sound judgment handling sensitive and privileged information. What Will Set You Apart Business Judgment: You understand what matters in a deal, resolve what you can, and escalate what you should, with enough context that the attorney can act immediately. Process Builder: You are energized by turning an ad hoc process into a clean, repeatable one. Ownership: You follow every request to completion without being chased, and you spot problems before they surface. Stakeholder Partnership: You build trust with Sales, Finance, and Procurement by being responsive, practical, and easy to work with. Data Orientation: You are comfortable working from metrics and dashboards to show how the contracting process is performing. Comfort with AI Tools: You use AI to speed up review, drafting, and routine administration, and you understand its limits and the need for human review. Preferred Qualifications ABA-approved paralegal certificate. Experience with SpotDraft or a comparable CLM platform, and with building reporting and automation. Experience in enterprise software, infrastructure, data storage, cloud, HPC, or AI. Familiarity with software licensing, SaaS, reseller, and hardware or appliance transactions. Experience with legal spend management, e-billing, or outside counsel invoice review. Familiarity with export controls and sanctions screening, or with corporate entity maintenance. Notary Public commission (CA), or willingness to obtain one. Why This Role This is a role with real ownership and visibility. You will be the operational center of how WEKA's legal team works, and you will have meaningful influence over how contracts move through a company that is scaling quickly. You will work closely with a collaborative legal team and see how deals come together across customers, neoclouds, partners, and vendors. In your first 90 days, you will take over day-to-day management of contract workflows and the legal request queue, begin handling first-pass reviews of standard agreements, and take on outside counsel invoice review. From there, you will help shape the metrics, templates, and automation that let the team keep pace as the business grows. WEKA offers competitive compensation including bonus and equity participation. How We Work: The WEKA Way We are Accountable: We take full ownership, lead with integrity, and hold ourselves to the highest standards—even when things don't go as planned. We are Brave: We question the status quo, push boundaries, and embrace debate as a fuel for innovation.
