Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their SQL Server Platform Engineer position! This is a 2+ year contract opportunity and will be remote in the United States. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered. What You'll Be Doing: Design and build database platform components and automation products for internal and customer-facing teams Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell to enable scalable database deployments Support and optimize cloud database platforms across Microsoft Azure and AWS environments Manage and maintain on-premise Microsoft SQL Server environments comprising approximately 80% of the database estate Engineer platform products that enable self-service database consumption for development and operations teams Implement advanced database administration solutions beyond traditional user role management Architect high availability and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity Collaborate with platform engineering teams to deliver automation capabilities and technical solutions Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders across various technical backgrounds What You'll Need to Have: 10+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience in enterprise environments Proven expertise in database platform engineering and automation, beyond traditional DBA responsibilities You will need to be able to communicate what you have done and how without using AI. Your resume needs to reflect what you can actually speak to and prove in an interview. Strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure database services, specifically SQL PaaS and SQL Managed Instance Solid experience with AWS database services and cloud platform architecture Advanced database administration capabilities including high availability and disaster recovery implementation Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences Pay Range: $65-75+/hr Questions about any of our jobs?
