Job description

Join a newly formed platform engineering product line at a leading global financial institution, building reusable frameworks, SDKs, tools, and services behind a clean layer of abstraction, so that thousands of engineers across the enterprise build software faster and more securely and stop re-implementing the same authentication, resiliency, observability, and compliance plumbing again and again. Our flagship managed framework is already adopted across tens of thousands of code repositories; our mission is to scale that model from a single widely adopted component to a broad portfolio, each engineered to the same high bar and integrated across the enterprise. As a Senior Principal Software Engineer on a platform engineering team at a leading global financial institution, you provide deep engineering expertise across agile teams and consistently challenge the status quo. You lead the strategic development behind new and existing components and keep the organization at the forefront of industry trends and technological advances. AI has reset the clock on how fast large organizations must adapt, and it raises both the stakes and the payoff of getting reuse right. We design our components to be agent-native (consumable by LLMs, agents, and modern developer tooling by default, with living documentation), so the building blocks engineers and agents reach for tomorrow are the ones we create today. This is a chance to work on genuinely hard problems and build solutions that scale across one of the largest technology organizations in the world. We offer opportunities for career advancement, impactful work using a range of modern technologies, and a supportive, inclusive environment where your ideas matter. Join us to make a difference for our customers and the engineering community. Job responsibilities • Advises and leads on the strategy and development of multiple components and technologies across the reusable-components portfolio • Creates novel code solutions and drives the development of new production-code capabilities that scale across the enterprise: from flagship frameworks to net-new components on the roadmap • Translates highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches (including AI and agent-native architecture) to leadership, enabling well-informed strategic decisions about technology investment • Drives adoption and implementation of technical methods in specialized fields and upholds the platform's quality standard across the enterprise • Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that are leveraged across teams and functions, engineered to be secure, resilient, observable, and agent-consumable by default • Influences across business, product, and technology teams and successfully manages senior stakeholder relationships Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience • Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability • Expert in one or more programming languages • Demonstrated prior experience influencing across functions and teams and delivering value at scale • Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex technology problems across various technical disciplines • Extensive practical cloud-native experience Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills • Recognized technical authority on developer platforms, SDKs, or reusable frameworks adopted at enterprise scale • Deep expertise in agent-native architecture, LLM tooling, and AI-assisted engineering • Experience shaping multi-year technical strategy for a portfolio of products Set the technical direction for software an entire enterprise depends on. As a Senior Principal Software Engineer on a new platform engineering team at a leading global financial institution, you'll lead the strategic development behind new and existing reusable components, challenge the status quo across agile teams, and keep the organization at the forefront of industry trends. Your work defines the drop-in, agent-native frameworks (consumable by LLMs and modern tooling by default) that thousands of engineers build on. If you want the deepest technical problems and impact measured across tens of thousands of repositories, this is where you'll have it.
