Job description

The Creative Director, Motion Design drives motion-led marketing initiatives—from brand systems to individual campaigns—across the Apple TV ecosystem. This role requires an exemplary record in motion design and art direction; fluency across design, animation, editorial, compositing, visual effects, and production; and the vision to establish motion as a dedicated creative practice within Apple TV Marketing. You will lead the ideation and execution of innovative motion design solutions, conveying Apple TV’s message through a thoughtful blend of graphic design, animation, typography, imagery, music, and editorial elements. You will develop distinctive motion concepts for individual projects while building foundational systems that strengthen how Apple TV moves across campaigns, platforms, and experiences. This is a highly conceptual, hands-on creative leadership role. The ideal candidate can originate and prototype work at an exceptional level, provide thoughtful creative direction, and help define the roadmap, workflows, partnerships, and resources required to grow the motion design practice. 10+ years of experience in motion design, animation, brand design, entertainment marketing, media creation, or a related creative discipline. Portfolio of daring, exceptionally crafted work demonstrating original motion concepts, animation, motion graphics, typography, editorial, compositing, and visual communication across 2D and 3D. Experience leading the creative development of brand identities and global campaigns from concept and prototyping through production and final delivery. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with expertise in After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Media Encoder. Advanced proficiency in Cinema 4D and Redshift, including camera work, lighting, materials, texturing, and rendering. Proven ability to prototype original ideas hands-on while simultaneously setting creative direction and guiding multidisciplinary teams. Strong understanding of design foundations, animation principles, motion theory, timing, typography, composition, and storytelling. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex creative ideas clearly and persuasively. Experience establishing or advancing a motion design practice within a large, multidisciplinary creative organization or agency. Deep understanding of brand systems and the ability to translate them into scalable motion behaviors across complex, multi-channel campaigns. Creative leadership experience across production and post-production, including animation, editorial, compositing, visual effects, sound, and live-action workflows. Familiarity with Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Resolve, or similar advanced production tools, and an understanding of how design translates into complex CG and VFX environments. Experience collaborating directly with artists, filmmakers, studios, creators, and cultural partners. Fluency across media and social platforms, with an understanding of cultural passion points, audience behavior, and emerging forms of storytelling. Curiosity about emerging technologies and their potential within the creative process, including real-time, spatial, generative, and interactive design. High taste level, strong conceptual and editorial instincts, and extraordinary attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to mentor creative talent, navigate ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
