Job description

About Ergotron: Ergotron, Inc. is a global leader in designing ergonomic solutions that connect people and technology to enhance human performance, health and happiness. Using the Technology of Movement™, Ergotron builds products and custom solutions that help people feel a new sense of energy in healthcare, industrial and office settings, both at home and on-site. Through its 40-year history, Ergotron has led the industry with innovative, professional-grade products and customer-focused service. The company has earned more than 200 patents and established a growing portfolio of award-winning brands including WorkFit® and CareFit™, and patented EcoFlex, Constant Force™, ModCart, RhythmConnect, and LiFeKinnex™ technologies. Ergotron is headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a presence in North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific. For more information, please visit www.ergotron.com. Position Summary: The Electrical Engineering Intern will support Ergotron's electrical engineering team by designing and running electrical stress and thermal tests on active NPD and Core Extension projects. Working under the oversight of an experienced Ergotron EE, the intern will build the harnesses, test circuitry, and low level firmware needed to conduct those tests, and will document findings that feed directly into product improvements. Position Responsibilities: • Design and execute electrical stress and thermal tests on active NPD and Core Extension projects. • Design and build wire harnesses, test fixtures, and test circuitry to support those tests. • Write low level firmware (microcontroller/embedded) used to automate or instrument testing. • Capture, analyze, and plot test data; identify trends, failures, and margins against spec. • Document test plans, setups, and results, and present recommendations to the engineering team. • Follow lab and electrical safety procedures; work under the oversight of an experienced Ergotron EE. • Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and regular check-ins with their manager. Position Requirements (Knowledge & Experience): • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. • Coursework or project experience with circuit analysis, basic power electronics, and reading schematics. • Hands-on comfort with lab equipment: multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, electronic load, thermocouples or thermal camera. • Some embedded programming experience (C/C++ on microcontrollers) or scripting (Python) for data capture and analysis. • Nice to have: soldering and harness fabrication, PCB layout exposure, or thermal testing experience. • Strong attention to detail, methodical test discipline, and clear written communication. ONE Core Values: • Customer-Centric Innovation: Develops product concepts driven by real customer and end-user needs. • Built to Last: Designs and prototypes with durability, serviceability, and manufacturability in mind. • Always Improving: Explores new ideas that expand the portfolio and keep the NPD funnel full. • Integrity: Accurate reporting of results, honest assessment of designs, and careful handling of drawings, data, and change records.
