Job description
Senior Product Manager - Connected Solutions & Customer Insights
Help Shape the Future of Connected HVACR Technology
Fieldpiece is a privately held, global leader in professional HVACR tools and test instruments. We're known for developing innovative products that technicians rely on every day - and for investing in our people, our technology, and our future. Named one of the Best Places to Work in Southern California for four consecutive years , we're looking for talented people who want to make an impact while growing their careers.
Why this role?
We're looking for a Senior Upstream Product Manager - Connected Products who thrives at the intersection of technology, customer insight, and business strategy. This is an upstream marketing role where you'll identify market opportunities, define future products, and partner with engineering to bring innovative connected solutions to life.
We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable talking with contractors in the field and collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software engineers. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, understands how connected products are developed, and enjoys translating technology into product strategies that solve real customer problems. This aligns with the role's responsibility for shaping the portfolio across hardware, firmware, and connected software while partnering closely with engineering throughout product development.
This position is in our Park City, UT office with an exciting move to Heber City, UT in 2027. This role follows a hybrid work schedule , with teammates typically working onsite three days per week. Additional in-office days may be required from time to time for onboarding, training, team meetings, project collaboration, or other business needs.
What You’ll Do:
• Develop product strategy for hardware, firmware, and connected software solutions.
• Identify market opportunities through Voice of Customer research, field engagement, and competitive analysis.
• Partner with engineering to define product requirements, priorities, and roadmaps.
• Build business cases that guide product investment decisions.
• Lead products from concept through commercialization.
• Develop go-to-market strategies and successful product launches.
• Collaborate across engineering, sales, marketing, finance, and operations to deliver exceptional customer solutions.
What Makes This Opportunity Different:
• Help decide what products we build next - not just how we market them based on VOC, market trends and opportunities.
• Blend technical expertise with business strategy – influencing the development of new hardware, firmware, software, and connected products.
• Shape the future of the Fieldpiece connected ecosystem.
In Your First Year, You'll Likely:
• Become a trusted expert in your product portfolio – roadmap, market, opportunities, etc.
• Build relationships with customers and engineering teams to be strategic and hands-on throughout the launch of innovative connected products.
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical discipline.
• 10+ years of upstream product management, product marketing, or product strategy experience in a new product environment.
• Strong technical background with experience working on connected or IoT product experience with hardware, firmware and software solutions.
• Experience partnering closely with engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle and proven success bringing technical products from concept through commercialization.
• Expertise in translating Voice of Customer (VOC), market research, and product strategy into product requirements and understanding tradeoffs, priorities, costs, etc.
• Outstanding communication, storytelling, and executive presentation skills.
• Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into compelling customer value propositions.
Bonus Point If You Have
• HVACR, industrial equipment, instrumentation, or professional tools experience.
• MBA or advanced technical degree.
Why You'll Enjoy Working at Fieldpiece
• As a privately held company, we invest for the long term—in our people, our products, and our future. That means we can focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and building lasting careers rather than chasing short-term results.
• Work alongside talented, collaborative teammates who are passionate about innovation and solving real world problems.
• Make a meaningful impact in a company where your ideas are heard, your expertise is valued, and your contributions help shape the future of our products and business.
