Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) QuickSight is looking to hire an experienced Software Development Engineer to support the fast growing organization that builds world class experiences and services for our customers. AWS QuickSight is a fast, easy-to-use, cloud-based, serverless Business Intelligence (BI) service designed for easy deployment to tens of thousands of users. As a fully-managed SaaS application, there's no need to buy, manage, and scale servers and no software to deploy and upgrade. QuickSight is deeply integrated with AWS data sources, allowing companies to deploy secure and scalable BI on their data in AWS. You will be part of a QuickSight team to grow its business intelligence platform. The team is innovating the next generation of business intelligence, leveraging agentic AI to reinvent how customers explore, analyze, visualize, and act on their data through a unified, serverless BI experience. We have just started on this journey and have a lot of autonomy in delivering the future of cloud-based business intelligence. You'll have the opportunity to influence decisions related to system architecture, feature development, and product strategy, and to design and build complex distributed systems with AWS Serverless and microservice architecture. The team has plenty of opportunities to learn from the best in the industry and grow your career, since this is a high visibility and strategic project. Our next journey is agentic AI. We are building and delivering the foundational AI services that let customers transform their businesses and harness the potential of AI to solve their most complex challenges, bringing agentic experiences to the way they explore and act on their data. You'll work alongside a dynamic team of AI/ML practitioners, applied scientists, software engineers, and solution architects who work backwards from customer needs to create innovative technologies. If you're passionate about shaping the future of AI while making a meaningful impact for customers worldwide, we want to hear from you. Key job responsibilities In this role, you will: - Help define the system architecture and technical direction for our business intelligence platform, owning and implementing significant components end to end while shaping the broader connectivity and integration roadmap. - Design and build complex, scalable distributed systems using AWS Serverless and microservice architecture, making decisions that impact the platform's long-term vision. - Drive work across the full software lifecycle, planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and continuous process improvement, as a member of an autonomous, high-ownership team. - Take responsibility for technical problem-solving, creatively meeting product goals under ambiguity and balancing near-term delivery with long-term maintainability. - Define, document, and champion engineering best practices, raising the bar for code quality, operational excellence, and team-wide technical standards. - Collaborate with product managers, applied scientists, and fellow engineers to translate customer needs into differentiated capabilities, including the agentic AI experiences that define the next generation of BI. - Mentor and elevate other engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance, multiplying the impact of the team. A day in the life A typical day mixes focused building with close collaboration. You might begin at a design review, working through an architecture proposal with fellow engineers, then sit with product managers and UX designers to shape how a new capability should look and behave for customers. From there you move into planning and designing your own components, then building and testing them, from the query and semantic layer through visualization and the agentic AI experiences that let customers explore their data conversationally. Because you own what you build, you also monitor your services in production, investigate issues, and keep improving how the platform scales to tens of thousands of users worldwide. About the team We are the team building the next generation of QuickSight's business intelligence platform. Our mission is to reinvent how customers explore, analyze, visualize, and act on their data, moving beyond dashboards toward a unified, serverless, agentic BI experience. We are early in this journey, so the work is high-ownership and high-impact. We work backwards from customer needs, care deeply about technical excellence, and give every engineer room to grow. We value work-life harmony.
