Senior Manager, Growth Strategy & Operations at Airwallex

Job description

ABOUT AIRWALLEX Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own. We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,700 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. Read our operating principles airwallex.com to see it in full. HOW YOU'LL MAKE IMPACT Lead the operating, measurement, and systems layer for Airwallex’s global product-led growth engine. This role combines people leadership with hands-on ownership of funnel analytics, experimentation, campaign measurement, and growth technology, helping Growth teams improve the customer journey from acquisition and onboarding through activation, first transaction, retention, and expansion. - Build and scale operating mechanisms, KPI frameworks, dashboards, experimentation processes, campaign operations, tracking standards, and growth technology that turn customer, product, campaign, payment, and business-performance data into clear decisions. - Lead and develop a team responsible for growth operations, analytics, experimentation, and systems, including hiring, coaching, prioritization, performance management, and capability building. - Own end-to-end funnel and customer journey analytics across acquisition, onboarding, activation, first transaction, repeat usage, retention, and expansion, identifying conversion gaps, payment friction, customer opportunities, and potential improvements to product adoption and gross profit per customer. - Partner with Growth Innovation, Growth Lifecycle, Growth Product, Growth Platform and Systems, Product, Marketing, Data and Analytics, Engineering, Sales and Commercial, Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and regional Growth teams to prioritize opportunities, define hypotheses, design measurement approaches, evaluate experiments, and scale successful initiatives globally. - Establish reliable campaign and experiment measurement practices, including campaign IDs, tagging conventions, data-quality checks, attribution requirements, control or holdout methodologies, success criteria, and post-launch readouts. - Improve growth technology and operational processes by identifying tooling gaps, automating recurring analysis and reporting, and applying AI responsibly with appropriate human review and controls. You'll work from our San Francisco office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Essentials - 10+ years of experience in Growth, Growth Strategy & Operations, Product Growth, Product Analytics, Revenue Operations, Business Operations, or a related field. - 3+ years of experience managing and developing teams, including hiring, coaching, setting priorities, and managing performance. - Demonstrated experience owning growth strategy and operations across complex, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and changing priorities. - Proven experience building and operating funnel analytics, KPI frameworks, dashboards, experimentation programs, or performance-reporting systems that informed business decisions. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work comfortably with customer, product, campaign, payment, and business-performance data. - Demonstrated experience translating analysis and strategic priorities into operating processes, measurable outcomes, and scalable execution. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex findings and present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders. Preferred - Experience in payments, fintech, B2B SaaS, or another high-growth, product-led environment, with a strong understanding of customer onboarding, activation, payment conversion, product adoption, retention, and expansion. - Hands-on proficiency with SQL and analytics or business intelligence tools such as Looker, Tableau, Hex, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Snowflake, dbt, or equivalent platforms. - Experience building scalable growth systems across CRM, marketing automation, customer data platforms, experimentation tooling, campaign operations, data-quality governance, and reporting automation. - Experience analyzing payment-specific metrics and friction points, such as authorization or approval rates, payment-method performance, onboarding or KYC/KYB completion, risk-related drop-off, payment recovery, or first-transaction conversion. - Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and regional teams in a regulated or technically complex environment. - A builder’s mindset, strong intellectual curiosity, resilience, and comfort operating in ambiguity while influencing across functions and developing a high-performing team. YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF - You're comfortable owning the roadmap yourself. - You're comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and moving quickly anyway. - You're not precious about your ideas. You push hard for what you believe in, but you pivot fast when the data says otherwise. - You connect dots across functions and hold the big picture without losing grip on the details. - You know when to align and when to just decide. Collaboration isn't a way to avoid accountability. LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR TEAM Growth at Airwallex is building a unified, AI-native growth system across product, sales, and marketing. Rather than applying AI to isolated tasks, we use customer context, machine learning, automation, and continuous learning to transform how Airwallex acquires, activates, converts, retains, and expands customers. You’ll build high-traffic platforms, experimentation frameworks, and intelligent decision systems that turn signals—such as company profile, product usage, lifecycle stage, behavior, and intent—into personalized journeys, next-best actions, and measurable incremental value. The work spans both human + AI and autonomous operating models: AI-native tools that increase the leverage of growth teams, alongside agentic workflows that can research opportunities, launch and optimize campaigns, orchestrate customer journeys, and measure outcomes within clear strategies and guardrails. The challenge is to combine consumer-technology speed with the precision, trust, and regulatory complexity of global B2B finance. If you enjoy owning ambiguous problems end to end, prototyping quickly, measuring real business impact, and using every outcome to improve the next decision, you’ll help define how an AI-native global financial platform grows.
