Product Manager (Senior / Staff) at Permitflow

Job description

PermitFlow is redefining how America builds. We’re an applied AI company serving the nation’s builders, tackling one of the largest information challenges in the economy: understanding what can be built, where, and how. Our AI agent workforce helps the fastest-growing construction companies navigate everything from permitting and licensing to inspections and project closeouts – accelerating housing, clean-energy, and infrastructure development across the country. Despite being a $1.6T industry, construction still suffers from massive delays, wasted capital, and lost opportunity. PermitFlow has already delivered unprecedented speed, accuracy, and visibility to over $20B in development, helping contractors reduce compliance time, de-risk projects, and scale with confidence. As the U.S. enters a new capex supercycle across data centers, factories, housing, and renewables, joining PermitFlow means building the AI infrastructure at the core of every construction project driving the next wave of reindustrialization. We’ve raised over $90M, most recently completing our Series B, permitflow.com from top-tier investors including Accel, Kleiner Perkins linkedin.com, Initialized, Y Combinator, Felicis, and Altos Ventures, with backing from leaders at OpenAI, Google, Procore, ServiceTitan, Zillow, PlanGrid, and Uber. BUILDING THE AI INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CONSTRUCTION - Construction is one of the largest industries in the world - and one of the most operationally fragmented. - Before anything gets built, projects must move through permitting and pre-construction workflows spread across ~20,000 jurisdictions, each with different rules, systems, and processes. - The result is a massive bottleneck slowing down housing and infrastructure across the country. - PermitFlow is rebuilding this layer from the ground up - using modern software and AI systems to automate and orchestrate permitting end-to-end. - We are still early. The product surface area is expanding rapidly, the workflows are deeply complex, and the opportunity to shape how this industry operates is enormous. - This is one of those rare moments where product decisions directly influence how the physical world gets built. LOCATION - Our HQ is in New York City with a hybrid schedule (3 in-office days per week). ROLE OVERVIEW - We’re hiring a Product Manager to lead critical product initiatives across PermitFlow’s platform. - This is a highly ownership-driven role at the intersection of AI, workflow automation, and real-world operational complexity. You’ll work directly with engineering, design, operations, leadership, and customers to define products that simplify one of the most fragmented workflows in the physical economy. - The best PMs here operate like builders and owners. They move quickly, prioritize ruthlessly, stay close to customers, and drive clarity in ambiguous environments. - You will own problems end-to-end from customer discovery and product strategy through execution, launch, iteration, and measurable customer impact. - This is not a role where you inherit a fully-defined roadmap. You’ll help define what gets built, why it matters, and how the product evolves as the company scales. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Lead a core product area focused on customer-facing workflows and AI-powered systems that simplify complex permitting processes - Drive the full product lifecycle: discovery, prioritization, design, development, launch, and iteration - Work directly with customers to deeply understand pain points, operational bottlenecks, and workflow inefficiencies - Translate ambiguous real-world problems into intuitive, scalable product experiences - Partner closely with engineering, design, operations, and sales to deliver products that create measurable customer and business impact - Define product strategy, roadmap priorities, success metrics, and execution plans across teams - Drive alignment across leadership and cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-moving environment - Help establish product standards, operating principles, and execution culture as the PM organization scales WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR We’re looking for product leaders who thrive in high-ownership environments and enjoy solving operationally complex problems. - 3+ years of product management experience shipping impactful products in startups or fast-moving environments - Strong product judgment and ability to prioritize effectively across competing opportunities - Experience leading product initiatives with meaningful business or customer impact - Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and create clarity for cross-functional teams - Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, leadership, operations, and customers - Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a customer-first mindset - Technical fluency and comfort working closely with engineering teams - High sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability - Bonus: experience with workflow systems, AI products, enterprise SaaS, or operational tooling WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This is not a feature optimization role - it is a systems-building role inside a category being created in real time. PermitFlow sits at the intersection of: - fragmented real-world regulatory infrastructure - high-friction operational workflows - and emerging AI systems capable of automating end-to-end complexity The products built here directly impact how quickly housing and infrastructure projects move from idea to execution. This role offers rare leverage: you’ll help define both the product experience and the operational foundation of a rapidly scaling company still early enough for individual decisions to meaningfully shape its trajectory. WHAT WE OFFER - Competitive salary and meaningful equity in a high-growth company - 100% company-paid base medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees + healthcare FSA - 401(k) savings plan - Unlimited PTO and paid family leave - Home office & equipment stipend - Daily in-office lunch and dinner provided - Commuter benefits (pre-tax transit and parking) CLOSING If you’re excited by the opportunity to build AI-powered products that simplify complex real-world workflows - and want to help define a category from the ground up - we’d love to talk.
