Job description

🚀 Join the Future of Commerce with Whatnot! Whatnot is the largest live shopping platform in North America and Europe to buy, sell, and discover the things you love. Whether it's trading cards, fashion, electronics, or live plants, our sellers are building real businesses across hundreds of categories. We're building live commerce at a scale that's never been done in the West, and there's no playbook to copy. The people here are shaping how an entirely new industry develops. As a remote co-located team, we're inspired by our values and anchored in hubs across the US, UK, Ireland, Poland, Germany, and Australia. We move fast, stay close to our users, and focus on the work that drives the most impact. We're one of the fastest growing marketplaces and were recently named the #1 Best Startup Employer in America by Forbes. Check out the latest Whatnot updates on our news and engineering blogs and join us as we enable anyone to turn their passion into a business and bring people together through commerce. 💻 Role You’ll join the Marketing Strategy & Operations team and own the operational layer behind Whatnot’s paid creative engine: the workflows, reporting, tooling, automation, and vendor infrastructure that let us produce and ship performant paid creative at volume across markets without losing brand fit or signal. You’ll audit what exists, build a clear point of view on what needs to change, and improve the system end-to-end as paid scales globally. What You’ll Own • Process improvement and operating systems. Audit and redesign the operational systems behind Growth Marketing, improving reporting, measurement, tooling, campaign workflows, and decision-making processes to increase speed and effectiveness. • Creative performance analysis. Analyze creative performance across paid channels to understand what drives business outcomes, identify winning patterns, and partner with Growth Marketing to improve testing strategy. This role focuses on measurement and insights—not campaign trafficking or media buying. • Cross-functional operating rhythm. Sit at the seam between Performance Marketing, Influencer, and in-house Creative teams. Drive alignment, make tradeoffs visible, and escalate when needed. • Reporting & creative performance measurement. Own the data infrastructure that powers Growth Marketing (Airtable, Sigma, Snowflake), partnering with Data to build scalable dashboards and reporting frameworks, automate reporting, improve data quality, define how paid creative performance is measured, identify trends across channels, and translate insights into actionable recommendations that drive creative investment, experimentation, and faster decision-making. • Lead cross-functional operational initiatives end-to-end. Scope the problem, build the plan, drive execution, report results. Be the DRI when a structural problem (localization, brand-fit auditing, attribution across creative variants) doesn't yet have one. • Net-new problems. As paid scales globally, you'll be the person solving the structural questions nobody's solved yet. We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our SF / LA / NYC hubs, with LA & NYC preferred. 👋 You People who do well at Whatnot tend to be comfortable figuring things out as they go, biased toward action, and genuinely curious about what they’re building. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it. For this role specifically, you should have: • 4+ years of experience within performance marketing & operations at a high-growth consumer company. • Strong analytical judgment. You’re comfortable working with performance data directly, whether in SQL, BI tools, spreadsheets, ad platforms, or creative analytics tools. You understand paid marketing metrics like CAC, ROAS, LTV, PBP, incrementality, and creative fatigue, and can design measurement frameworks where none exist. • A track record of building or rebuilding a system that scaled. This could be a tagging taxonomy, asset workflow, creative testing framework, automation pipeline, or reporting system. You’ve shipped something measurable that solved a key business problem, not just managed a process someone else built. • Strong project management instincts. You’ve run complex cross-functional initiatives across technical and business teams, and you can keep the plan moving without adding unnecessary process. • Clear written communication. You can take a messy reality and turn it into a one-page recommendation a leader can act on quickly. • Operational instincts at scale. You’ve worked inside a team where spend, creative volume, or market complexity grew quickly, and you’ve felt the structural pain that comes with it: localization, brand drift, creative velocity, asset tracking, and attribution noise. • Comfort with ambiguity. You can take a problem like “we don’t know what creative is working globally” and turn it into a practical system the team actually uses. • Bias toward speed and iteration. You know when a scrappy system is good enough to ship and when something needs more rigor. Bonus signals we look for • Experience supporting Growth Marketing organizations with $100M+ annual paid media budgets • You’ve questioned an existing approach at a prior company and built the replacement. • You’ve owned a budget or vendor relationship end-to-end. • You’ve used Whatnot as a buyer or seller. 🎁 Benefits • Generous Holiday and Time off Policy • Health Insurance options including Medical, Dental, Vision • Work From Home Support • Home office setup allowance • Monthly allowance for cell phone and internet • Care benefits • Monthly allowance for wellness • Annual allowance towards Childcare • Lifetime benefit for family planning, such as adoption or fertility expenses • Retirement; 401k offering for Traditional and Roth accounts in the US (employer match up to 4% of base salary) and Pension plans internationally • Monthly allowance to dogfood the app • All Whatnauts are expected to develop a deep understanding of our product. We're passionate about building the best user experience, and all employees are expected to use Whatnot as both a buyer and a seller as part of their job (our dogfooding budget makes this fun and easy!). • Parental Leave • 16 weeks of paid parental leave + one month gradual return to work. Company leave allowances run concurrently with country leave requirements which take precedence. Please note: Whatnot will only contact you through official @whatnot.com email addresses. If you see an email impersonating a Whatnot recruiter, please disregard and report it as spam. 💛 EOE Whatnot is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diversity, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, parental status, disability status, or any other status protected by local law. We believe that our work is better and our company culture is improved when we encourage, support, and respect the different skills and experiences represented within our workforce.
