Job description

Who are we? Tripledot Studios is one of the largest independent mobile games companies in the world. We are a multi-award-winning organisation, with a global 2,500+ strong team across 12 studios. Our expanded portfolio includes some of the biggest titles in mobile gaming, collectively reaching top chart positions around the world and engaging over 25 million daily active users. Tripledot’s guiding principle is that when people love what they do, what they do will be loved by others. We’re building a company we’re proud of. One filled with driven, incredibly smart and detail-orientated people, who LOVE making games. Our ambition is to be the most successful games company in the world, and we’re just getting started. This role sits within our Peoplefun studio. PeopleFun is an award-winning creator of mobile games for players across the globe, and a part of Tripledot Studios, with world-class projects, resources, and infrastructure. PeopleFun is a Dallas-based game studio founded and led by game industry veterans, where game developers thrive on collaboration, creativity, teamwork, and fun. Our games are played by over 25 million players each month, and we are hard at work on a number of exciting new mobile games to fuel our future growth. We believe in bringing People together through Fun by creating best-in-class social features and communities in our games that enable our players to engage deeply with other players. We also bring our studio teammates together by creating the very best game teams, ones that foster healthy collaboration, incredible productivity, and life-long professional relationships. Job Summary PeopleFun's New Games Team is looking for a Level Designer who lives in level editors, feeds on ideation, and brings smiles to players’ faces with delightful surprises around every corner. Our team makes original casual mobile games for a mass-market audience, and we judge them by one thing above all: do players keep coming back? In this role you'll build, tune, and ship the levels that make or break that answer. You'll take the first 20 minutes of a brand-new game and make them unforgettable with the puzzly good content you author, and then build ramps of hundreds of levels that keep players hooked for days, weeks, months. Our team works hypothesis-first: we spot something in the market, theorize why it’s trending, build a clean polished game that can test it, and let players tell us what's next. You'll join a small, senior-heavy incubation team where your levels go in front of real players within weeks, not years. There’s no better, faster way to level up your design chops than sprinting with our team. Responsibilities Design, build, and tune levels in Unity or our custom level editors, and prompt AI to improve these same tools as you go. Shape the player progression across the level ramp, i.e. introducing new mechanics and pacing the difficulty level (with hard levels intentionally balanced by breathers). Invent new goals, blockers, and boosters within an existing game, and prove them out with sample puzzle layouts or vibe-coded prototypes (we’ll show you how). Use playtests to find where players struggle or get bored, and rebuild levels in response. Review level-by-level metrics (attempts, win rate, completion time, drop-off) with our data partners and retune the ramp each release. Play and tear down the top casual games on a regular basis, and bring any lessons that apply to our games back to the team. Maintain shared docs on level design & intent – featured mechanic, target difficulty, metrics or analysis of every level, so anyone on the team can work on the ramp alongside you. Partner with engineers to improve the game, including procedural and AI-assisted level generation. Move across two or more prototypes at different stages, and let go of work quickly when a test tells us to pivot. Requirements 2+ years of professional level design experience on casual games, OR 3+ years of professional experience in related disciplines on mobile games. Hands-on experience building levels using level editors. Comfort with Unity and the basic tools of game development (like source control) Working knowledge of level design fundamentals: progression, pacing, difficulty curves, and onboarding (FTUE). Demonstrated experience revising your own designs based on playtest feedback. Clear written and verbal communication of design intent, to collaborate with artists, animators, engineers, and product partners. Ability to work on a hybrid schedule from our Dallas-area office. Nice to have Shipped levels in a puzzle, word, block, or match game, with samples you can share (level breakdowns, ramp sheets, or a portfolio). Experience reading level funnels and tuning from data; familiarity with tools like Looker, BigQuery, Tableau, etc. Experience prototyping new mechanics with AI (or on paper or in whitebox) to test them before engineering investment. Fluency with spreadsheets for authoring and tuning content (formulas, ramp tables, parameter sheets). Experience taking a game from prototype through soft launch, or working on an incubation team. Scripting experience (C# or Python), or experience with procedural or AI-assisted content generation. Experience designing or evaluating A/B tests on level content. Recent examples of silly-little-prototypes or actually-useful-tools you’ve built prompted AI to create for your amusement or utility. A habit of playing current top-grossing casual games, explaining why they work, and spotting the most salient innovation Don't meet every qualification? Research shows many great candidates hold back unless they check every box. If this role excites you and you can build great levels, we'd love to hear from you. Working at Tripledot Time Off: Flexible Discretionary Time Off policy in addition to bank holidays to relax and refresh throughout the year. Financial: Generous 401k match, discretionary bonuses, and competitive salaries. Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
