Job description

Our Mission Healthie is an AI-Native, ONC Certified EHR for modern outpatient healthcare. Healthie is proud to power clinically excellent healthcare for over 40,000 providers who deliver clinically excellent healthcare - longitudinal and collaboratively, with patient and provider experiences at the center. Both healthcare and technology are undergoing unparalleled industry innovation, and it’s incredible to see the momentum - from consumers, from providers, and from reimbursement for this type of healthcare - grow exponentially. We provide the powerful infrastructure every care delivery organization needs. On the surface this includes EHR, Scheduling, Engagement, Billing, Data, and much more. Underneath the iceberg are thousands of configurations, settings, widgets, automations, and limitless capabilities because we are an API-first platform. Our fully brandable platform makes it easy for clinics and organizations of any size to scale and never reach a limit. Today, over 3 billion API calls are made to Healthie every month, as thousands of organizations who work with more than 21 million patients in total, rely on Healthie to deliver clinically excellent healthcare in over 35 specialties, from behavioral healthcare to complex chronic care management and personalized medicine. We believe in the power of technology to improve access to healthcare and we’re building the rails that make this a reality. We work fast and with quality because we provide business-critical, healthcare-critical software that clinicians and patients need for a better healthcare system. We’re customer-obsessed, operate with lightning-fast processes and responses, and always share our product roadmap publicly- so customers can see what we’re building, and remain relentlessly focused on how care gets delivered. Healthie is backed by leading investors, and while we've $42M raised to date, more importantly, we operate with fiscal responsibility and have been profitable for more than half of our time as a company. We know that building an ONC-Certified EHR is a lifetime’s body of work, and we are here to build for our customers forever. Learn more at gethealthie.com About the role We're hiring a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of our data warehouse and analytics platform — critical systems that give enterprise customers direct access to their own data and power reporting for every team inside Healthie. In this role, you'll help build and maintain the architecture and implementation of the isolation model, warehouse pipelines, and provisioning infrastructure behind both. On the customer side, that means enforcing hard guarantees at the database layer: customers get real ad-hoc query access to a shared warehouse, and can only ever reach their own data. On the internal side, it means partnering with teams across the company to build the models and dashboards they use to run their departments. You'll work closely across engineering, support, and customer success teams to automate and harden these systems, ensuring data quality, scalability, and compliance. Your work will be central to accelerating enterprise onboarding, giving internal teams reporting they can trust, and expanding Healthie's ability to empower our diverse and growing customer base. About you You have 6+ years of engineering experience spanning data and infrastructure You're proficient in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL and Snowflake preferred) You've implemented access control at the database level in a warehouse — row-level or column-level security, RBAC, role hierarchies — and you can reason about what a user could reach through a query path you didn't design for You've operated a production data pipeline you didn't build, diagnosing CDC failures, schema drift, and bad upstream values while customers are watching You're fluent in Terraform or similar IaC, and you'd rather codify a provisioning step than run it twice You've partnered with non-engineering teams to turn ambiguous reporting asks into models they'll actually use You're comfortable automating in a scripting language — we use Ruby and SQL. Deep application backend experience isn't required You treat cloud spend as an engineering problem, and can trace a line on the bill back to the config that caused it You think beyond one-off scripts — you build reusable, automated tools that scale with the business You prioritize data quality, observability, and compliance, and build systems that reflect those standards You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams Experience with HIPAA-regulated data is strongly preferred; PHI isolation is a core constraint of the role Experience with dbt, Metabase, Kafka/Debezium, or AWS data infrastructure is a plus — but curiosity, adaptability, and a builder's mindset still matter most Details, details This is a full-time, remote position. U.S. work authorization is required. The salary for this position is a base between $185,000 - $215,000. Interview Process Quick chat with someone from our Talent team (15 minutes) Interview with Ani, Director of Customer Engineering (30 minutes) Technical Assessment with members of our data engineering team (45 minutes) Interview with Colin Allison, Data Product Manager (30 minutes) Final session with Cavan, CTO & Co-founder (15 minutes) Reference Checks Learn more at gethealthie.com/careers . Healthie is subject to HIPAA and other security and privacy frameworks, and this job entails training and conformance to expectations regarding security and compliance. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to and will not be discriminated against based on age, race, gender, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, disability or any other protected category. We're proud to be building a diverse and inclusive environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, and growth.
