Job description

About Rivian Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role Summary The Battery Remanufacturing Team is seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to join the front lines of electric vehicle innovation. In this role, you will be a key driver in the lifecycle of the High Voltage (HV) Battery—the most critical component of the Rivian platform. As a Remanufacturing Engineer II, you will blend technical expertise in power systems and diagnostics with a "first principles" approach to ensure our remanufactured products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Responsibilities Electrical Oversight & Diagnostics: Own the electrical components, High Voltage battery assemblies, and sub-systems, specifically focusing on the transition from failed field units to certified remanufactured assets. Root Cause & Failure Analysis: Lead deep-dive electro-mechanical investigations into field failures, battery management systems (BMS), chargers, and power conversion units. Perform technical analyses, document issues, prioritize, and escalate to Product Development. Continuous Improvement & Yield: Leverage diagnostic testing and data acquisition to improve battery test yield, optimize electrical screening, and eliminate testing bottlenecks. Validation & Testing Systems: Support the development and validation of remanufacturing test processes. Assemble, maintain, and modify test equipment, battery cyclers, and data acquisition hardware as needed. Cross-Functional Link: Serve as the technical link between Process/Test Engineering and Technical Operations, translating complex electrical requirements and CAN/ethernet debugging data into actionable resolution steps. Sustainment & Feedback Loop: Provide on-site engineering support in Shepherdsville, Kentucky for High Voltage assemblies. Actively communicate detailed verification steps and provide critical feedback to prevent issue recurrence in future vehicle generations. May perform other duties as assigned Qualifications BS+ in Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline with 1–3+ years working with electrical systems, high-voltage hardware, and diagnostic test equipment. Knowledge of High Voltage batteries, BMS, chargers, and DC/DC / AC/DC converters. Hands-on experience with Battery cyclers and hardware (NHR, NI, EA). Proficiency with CAN/Ethernet debugging tools and diagnostic software (CANalyzer, CANape, LabVIEW). Familiarity with Python and/or C++ for interfacing with measurement hardware and data collection. Strong root-cause problem-solving skills with a focus on electrical principles and diagnostic testing. Experience with issue tracking and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence). Ability to view, read, and interpret schematic diagrams and electrical drawings. Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day Ability to lift 35lbs Occasionally required to climb, walk, kneel, or crouch Possibly required to travel, less than 10% Required to communicate using phone and/or e-mail Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations Pay Disclosure The salary range for this role is $77,400 to $98,580 for Kentucky based applicants.
