Job description

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of our power and motion control systems for our robotic systems. This role will select, define and design the future of our robot actuators with a focus on motor control and power delivery. The right candidate has proven experience in shipping products with elements of power electronics and BLDC control. Key job responsibilities - Develop conceptual designs and conduct trade studies to support actuator selection and design - Lead the design, layout, and validation of PCBs for power distribution, motor controllers, gate drivers, and sensor integration for actuator and motor control systems. - Develop test and measurement infrastructure for power electronics and motor control - Collaborate with firmware engineers on real-time control strategies - Work with mechanical engineers to integrate thermal management solutions for high-power electronics and motors - Support integration, bring-up, debugging, and testing of prototype actuators, working closely with firmware and mechanical teams - Ensure EMI/EMC compliance, signal integrity, and thermal design best practices for high-reliability electronics in a compact mobile system - Work with vendors and contract manufacturers to source high-quality components and oversee the production of key electronics subsystems About the team Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life. Our goal is simple: make robots people actually want to live and interact with in everyday human spaces. We believe that future won’t arrive until building for robotics becomes far more accessible. Today, too much effort is spent reinventing the fundamentals. We’re changing that by developing tightly integrated hardware and software systems that make it faster, safer, and more intuitive to create real-world robotic products. Our work spans the full stack: mechanical design, control systems, dynamic modeling, and intelligent software. The focus is not just functionality, but experience. We’re building robots that feel responsive, expressive, and genuinely useful. At Fauna, you’ll work at the frontier of this space, helping define how robots move, manipulate, and interact with people in natural environments. It’s an opportunity to solve hard problems across hardware and software with a team focused on making robotics accessible and joyful to build. If you care about making robotics real for everyone and building systems that are as delightful as they are capable, we’re interested in hearing from you. - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field - Experience developing products for large volume production - 7+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment experience - 4+ years of motor controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components) experience - Experience with power electronics, DC-DC Converters, switching regulators, or battery management - Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization - Strong PCB design and layout skills (Altium, Cadence, or similar) with an understanding of high-power circuits, signal integrity, and thermal constraints - Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including experience with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and motor test benches - Experience working in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or other real-time electromechanical systems - Experience with Ltspice or similar simulation tools - Experience with small form factor PCBAs, including flex and rigid-flex - Experience with electromagnetic design - Foundations in control theory Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
