Job description

Join a newly formed platform engineering product line at a leading global financial institution, building reusable frameworks, SDKs, tools, and services behind a clean layer of abstraction, so that thousands of engineers across the enterprise build software faster and more securely and stop re-implementing the same authentication, resiliency, observability, and compliance plumbing again and again. Our flagship managed framework is already adopted across tens of thousands of code repositories; our mission is to scale that model from a single widely adopted component to a broad portfolio, each engineered to the same high bar and integrated across the enterprise. As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering on a platform engineering team at a leading global financial institution, you provide technical coaching and advisory for one or more engineering teams and anticipate the needs and dependencies of other functions across the organization. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical decisions that advance efficiency and adoption. AI has reset the clock on how fast large organizations must adapt, and it raises both the stakes and the payoff of getting reuse right. We design our components to be agent-native (consumable by LLMs, agents, and modern developer tooling by default, with living documentation), so the building blocks engineers and agents reach for tomorrow are the ones we create today. This is a chance to work on genuinely hard problems and build solutions that scale across one of the largest technology organizations in the world. We offer opportunities for career advancement, impactful work using a range of modern technologies, and a supportive, inclusive environment where your ideas matter. Join us to make a difference for our customers and the engineering community. Job responsibilities • Provides overall direction, oversight, and coaching for one or more teams of engineers building reusable frameworks, SDKs, and tools • Accountable for decisions that influence team resources, budget, and tactical operations, and for the execution of your team's book of work • Ensures successful collaboration across component teams, adopter teams across the enterprise, and partner organizations such as identity/access management and the platform onboarding teams • Identifies and mitigates issues to execute the book of work, escalating as necessary and anticipating dependencies on other functions • Provides input to leadership on budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiency, security posture, and enterprise-wide adoption • Fosters a culture of secure-by-default, agent-native engineering and continuous learning in AI-era tooling Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills • Experience leading teams of technologists and guiding them toward goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems • Practical cloud-native experience Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills • Experience working at code level • Experience delivering developer platforms, SDKs, or reusable frameworks consumed by other teams Lead the engineers who build what everyone else builds on. As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering on a new platform engineering team at a leading global financial institution, you'll guide teams delivering the reusable frameworks, SDKs, and tools adopted across the enterprise, growing talent while shipping secure, scalable software that thousands of engineers depend on. You'll steer roadmaps toward drop-in, agent-native components designed for LLMs and modern developer tooling, and turn hard technical problems into products with enterprise-wide reach. If you love developing people and engineering that scales, this is your team.
