Company Overview:
Lightspeed is the leading provider of cloud-based software for dealerships, serving the Powersport, Marine, RV, Trailer, and Golf Car industries adding hundreds of dealerships to the Lightspeed community each year.
Lightspeed’s Dealer Management Solution (DMS) enables dealerships to optimize their end-to-end business operations, including Sales, Parts, Service, Rentals, Payments, Accounting, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Uniquely designed by dealers for dealers, and refined over the past 4 decades, Lightspeed empowers over 4,500+ dealers across North America with the tools and technology they need to manage their dealerships.
Position Summary:
We're looking for a Senior Accountant who brings equal parts accounting rigor and fluency with AI. This is not a head-down, spreadsheet-only role. You'll be responsible for significant portions of our close and reporting cycle while improving the processes behind them, reaching for Claude, LLMs, and automation tools first rather than as an afterthought. You'll think in process flows, not just transactions, and bring a solutions-oriented, builder's mindset to every problem.
This is an opportunity to put AI to work in accounting and the month-end close, in a fast-paced environment where better processes show up in the results quickly. If you love accounting, stay curious, and want to help shape how the work gets done, we'd like to meet you
What you’ll do:
Accounting & Close
• Deliver assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close accurately and on time
• Prepare and post journal entries and other recurring entries
• Support revenue recognition and deferred revenue reconciliations (ASC 606) in partnership with Revenue Accounting
• Prepare and maintain accounting schedules for internal-use software capitalization (ASC 350-40), capitalized commissions (ASC 340-40), leases (ASC 842), and debt
• Prepare account reconciliations in FloQast, maintaining current status and clean documentation throughout the close cycle
• Maintain rigorous workpaper standards; identify ways to leverage AI to improve documentation
• Execute and document internal controls for assigned areas, and recommend improvements where gaps exist
• Support external audit activities and prepare audit schedules for review
Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare monthly flux and variance analysis with clear, concise commentary for finance leadership
• Prepare supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Support quarterly and annual reporting packages for leadership, lenders, and private equity stakeholders
Process Development & Automation
• Seek opportunities to continuously improve accounting process flows
• Use AI for financial analysis, process documentation, and any other task where AI makes it more efficient or more accurate
• Identify opportunities to replace manual processes with scalable, technology-driven solutions
Systems & Tools
• Develop into the team's go-to NetSuite resource, including report building, saved searches, chart of accounts maintenance, and system enhancements
• Utilize FloQast for close management, reconciliation tracking, and task ownership
• Contribute to implementation, improvement, and documentation of other systems as needed
Partner Across the Business
• Collaborate with the Payroll Accounting team on payroll journal entries and related reconciliations
• Collaborate with FP&A and Financial Operations on reclasses and necessary journal entries
What you should have:
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
Demonstrated proficiency with NetSuite including report building, saved searches, and chart of accounts/general ledger management
Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and building reconciliation and analysis schedules
Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot) in real accounting work, beyond casual prompting
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Manage multiple priorities during close and communicate clearly with finance and business partners
Preferred
CPA license or active candidacy; public accounting a plus
SaaS or software company experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606) and deferred revenue
Hands-on experience with FloQast for close management and reconciliation workflows
Experience with Claude Cowork and Claude Code
Proven ability to develop, document, and continuously improve accounting process flows
Multi-entity or multi-currency accounting experience
What Sets You Apart
You're naturally curious: you question how things work, wonder if there's a faster path, and then go find out. You were using AI tools before it was on the job description, and you think in prompts and process flows as readily as you think in journal entries. You don't wait to be handed a better process, you are a self-starter that enjoys building one. You challenge assumptions and actively seek better ways to do things.
You ask good questions of the data, of your systems, and of your colleagues. You bring the same inquisitiveness to your relationships that you bring to your work. You listen to understand, communicate with clarity when the stakes are high, and have a knack for raising the bar on what good looks like while bringing others along with you.
You bring a positive, approachable, and easy to work with mindset. You hold yourself to a high standard and jump in to help teammates when deadlines get tight. Bonus points if you love boats, bikes, RVs, or anything outdoors. Our customers do, and so do we.
In today’s competitive job market, transparency and trust are more important than ever. At Lightspeed, we believe in fostering an open and honest work environment, starting with our job postings. Pay transparency is a key component of this commitment, ensuring that potential candidates have a clear understanding of the compensation they can expect. Remote $75,000 — $124,000 USD
Inclusion and Diversity at Lightspeed:
