Job description

How to Apply: Please only apply to one open position. If you aren't a fit for it, we'll consider you for other positions automatically. Please submit your resume and a cover letter. In your cover letter and/or a separate written submission, please address the following: • Tell us about a process, system, or workflow you improved or built from scratch. What problem were you trying to solve, and what was the outcome? Were you at liberty to invent this as you wanted? Did you have to overcome any organizational objections or convince other stakeholders to agree? How long did it take and what did the execution timeline look like? • Describe a time when you were required to manage a difficult stakeholder, client, or team dynamic. What approach did you take to move the situation forward, and what was the result? We're less interested in polished "perfect" answers and more interested in how you think, communicate, solve problems, and approach complexity. About Starfish Storage Starfish Storage is a dynamic company creating enterprise software that enables organizations to manage massive unstructured data. Our mission is to enable organizations to leverage their data assets in pursuit of their goals – whether that’s creating the next great blockbuster movie, curing diseases, or managing large business infrastructure which drives economies. Our clients are the most respected organizations in their industries – media and entertainment, research computing, bio-technology, higher education, and the Federal governments. Role Overview We think of exceptional event marketers as Experience Architects: people who thoughtfully design the environments, systems, and experiences that help relationships and business opportunities grow. It’s a dynamic role where no two weeks look exactly alike. We're hiring an Event Marketing Manager (Experience Architect), and we’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, execution, relationship management, and operational excellence. Not someone who just executes a checklist, but someone who can hold the big picture and the smallest logistical detail at the same time. The role covers our event marketing programs end-to-end: trade shows, executive dinners, partner events, client-facing programs, and internal offsites. Beyond execution, you'll also help build and improve the operational infrastructure behind those programs, including the workflows, documentation, and systems that support a scaling marketing team. We're looking for someone curious, adaptable, and proactive. Someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, takes ownership seriously, and tends to leave systems better than they found them. This role leads event marketing strategy and execution across trade shows, partner programs, executive engagements, and internal events while also owning the operational systems and processes that support a scaling marketing organization. Key Responsibilities: • Event Planning, Execution & Partner Strategy: Lead end-to-end planning and execution of trade shows, executive dinners, workshops, networking receptions, client-facing programs, and internal events. This includes owning all logistics including timelines, registrations, shipping, travel, venue communication, exhibitor requirements, signage, swag, and onsite execution. Alongside event operations, you'll build and maintain relationships with strategic partners, developing a working understanding of their programs and how they connect to our technology. That means evaluating which opportunities are worth investing in, structuring joint participation thoughtfully, and collaborating with senior leadership on attendee strategy, sponsorship deliverables, and post-event follow-up. • Lead Management & CRM Data: Support lead management operations tied to events and trade shows. Process attendee lists, lead scanner exports, and post-event data for accurate and timely CRM entry. Coordinate day-after and post-event follow-up workflows with Sales and Marketing. Maintain clean, organized event data across internal systems. • Process Development & Documentation: Build and maintain scalable marketing workflows, templates, operational guides, and team wikis. Identify inefficiencies in communication and execution and drive improvements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal marketing infrastructure and best practices. Qualifications: • 4+ years in event marketing, event management, experiential marketing, hospitality, project management, or a related field • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder events, preferably within the technology industry • Strong organizational and operational skills with exceptional attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication across executive, sales, and client-facing audiences • Comfortable owning projects from planning through post-event wrap-up independently • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Gemini, and NotebookLM) • Experience with CRM systems, lead management, and event registration platforms preferred • Familiarity with the technology, infrastructure, AI, research computing, or enterprise IT ecosystem strongly preferred • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered Core Competencies: • Adaptable • Customer-focused • Delivers commitments • Personal effectiveness • Results-oriented • Simplifies complexity Work Environment & Expectations: • Hybrid role based out of our Waltham, MA headquarters • Expected in-office presence of approximately 2–3 days per week • Ability to travel periodically for trade shows, partner events, and internal programs as needed Compensation and Benefits: We recognize that satisfaction and well-being are integral components for long-term sustainability and business success.
