Job description

Opportunity ThermalWorks is seeking a high-caliber, full-time Technical Documentation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will bridge first-principles thermodynamic concepts with the practical realities of our hardware to address the escalating cooling demands of modern, mission-critical data center applications. Rather than physical prototype deployment, this position focuses on the documentation lifecycle. Theoretical refrigeration knowledge is strictly essential, as you will be translating complex engineering designs and system behaviors into highly accurate support documents, manuals, and operational sequences for our product lines. Thermal Works values efficiency and strives to maintain smooth operations. Our primary focus is on providing an integrated cooling system for data centers and commercial buildings that dramatically reduces the energy demand, water consumption and cost of cooling. It transforms the economics and eco-metrics of commercial cooling with zero water solutions that outperform air- and water-cooled systems in any climate. Thermal Works solutions are sustainable and cutting-edge. For that reason, we are highly selective about the people we bring on board because our work depends on it. Change and progress happen quickly, and we must be able to trust one another to be honest, communicative, reliable, and self-motivated. We seek ultra-creatives and superstar performers with a sense of humility and a hunger to make a positive impact in the world. We offer flexibility and endless growth opportunities to those who can harness their skills and talents and identify how and where to use them to add value. Thermal Works is one of several “inspired infrastructure” companies that work collaboratively under our parent company, Endeavour Energy, LLC. At the heart of this ecosystem is a diverse group of bright, passionate, dedicated people, working together to make a real difference for people and the planet. Thermal Works is looking for someone to join our team to help us move the needle towards sustainable change. Are you ready to join the journey? Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Technical Documentation & IOMs: Lead the drafting, editing, and continuous improvement of general equipment documentation, specifically comprehensive Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manuals for advanced thermal management infrastructure. Documentation Process & Submittals: Develop, establish, and optimize structured documentation workflows, including the creation, review, and management of standardized engineering submittal packages for customer approval and contractor use. Sequence of Operations (SOO): Develop and refine precise SOO documents. You will be responsible for ensuring that complex control logic, specific temperature sensor identifiers, and exact system deactivation thresholds are accurately captured and clearly explained for field use. Thermodynamic Translation: Analyze heat transfer and energy conversion components—including advanced heat exchanger designs, refrigeration systems, and heat pumps—to accurately describe their functionality in user-facing support documents. Project Management: Independently develop, review, and edit comprehensive project and customer reports. Maintain clear visibility over timelines, deliverables, and project milestones using collaborative project management platforms. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D and product development teams to extract technical specifications and utilize in-house documentation tools to support continuous product optimization. Education and Experience Education Requirements Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Preferred: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related thermal sciences field. Core Knowledge & Expertise 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, refrigeration, thermal management, HVAC, or a related field Theoretical Refrigeration (Essential): Extensive foundational knowledge of refrigeration cycles, heat transfer, and energy conversion systems is strictly required to create quality support documents. Fluid Dynamics: Deep familiarity with single-phase and two-phase heat transfer mechanisms is highly valued. Data Center Infrastructure: Functional knowledge of modern data center cooling topologies, including direct-to-chip liquid cooling, immersion systems, and liquid-to-air and liquid-to-liquid heat rejection, is highly advantageous. Professional Competencies Communication: Exceptional technical writing and communication skills, with a proven track record of authoring clear, concise engineering documentation, manuals, and customer-facing reports. Adaptability: Proven ability to independently master new engineering specifications, product updates, or internal platforms and rapidly apply them to active documentation projects. Detail Orientation: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams to gather information, combined with a rigorous commitment to documentation accuracy and clarity. About Our Parent Company, Endeavour Endeavour is rethinking the infrastructure model for the benefit of all. Instead of relying on big, centralized systems that often leave communities locked into outdated networks, we are building an integrated technology stack using modular components that can be repeated and scaled. Operating as a purpose trust, we create a continual cycle of innovation by investing in breakthrough technologies to build faster, cleaner infrastructure for data, energy, materials, and water. We tackle the industry’s most complex challenges by deploying scalable, modular solutions across the AI ecosystem—including carbon-neutral energy and revolutionary data center cooling. Our team of passionate changemakers is driven by a shared mission to build regenerative systems that give back more than they take. To work at Endeavour is to collaborate with proven experts, cut through the unnecessary to get things done, and know you are making a lasting impact on people and the planet.
