Job description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Java Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable, cloud-native applications using Java and Spring Boot. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who mentors engineers, collaborates with Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, and Security teams, and owns delivery from solution design through production support.
This role requires deep expertise in microservices, cloud-native development, CI/CD, containerization, observability, secure software development, and enterprise application architecture. The Lead Engineer will drive technical excellence, establish engineering best practices, and guide the team in building highly available, scalable, and resilient software solutions.

Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
● 10+ years of professional Java application development experience.
● 5+ years designing enterprise microservices and distributed applications.
● Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities
● Lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of enterprise Java applications and cloud-native microservices.
● Own delivery from solution design through production support.
● Define technical standards, coding guidelines, and engineering best practices.
● Lead architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and code reviews.
● Mentor and coach engineering teams while fostering technical growth.
● Partner with Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, Security, and Business stakeholders.
● Drive cloud modernization, CI/CD automation, DevSecOps, and operational excellence initiatives.
● Lead production incident response, root cause analysis, and technical debt reduction efforts.
● Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic improvements.
● Ensure applications meet performance, scalability, security, availability, and reliability standards.

Required Technical Skills
● Advanced Java 17+ development (Java 21 preferred)
● Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Cloud, Spring Security
● Enterprise microservices and distributed systems architecture
● REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth2, JWT
● Object-Oriented Design, Design Patterns, JVM performance optimization, and multithreading
● SQL, Oracle/PostgreSQL, database design, and performance tuning
● Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and Helm
● AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms
● Kafka and event-driven architectures
● Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, SonarQube, and CI/CD pipelines
● JUnit, integration testing, and automated testing practices
● Observability using Splunk, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Instana, or similar tools
● Secure SDLC, DevSecOps, and OWASP security best practices
● Good understanding of enterprise scheduling and workflow orchestration frameworks such as Apache Airflow or equivalent technologies
● Working knowledge of JavaScript and modern UI frameworks (Angular, React, or Vue.js) with the ability to guide front-end integration with backend microservices
