Events Designer, Business Marketing at OpenAI

Job description

About the Team OpenAI didn’t begin as a traditional company. It began as an idea: that artificial intelligence could be developed in a way that benefits everyone. As a creative team, our role is to help make sure the work behind that idea is understood as it leaves the lab and meets the world. This company works at the frontier of intelligence. Like any frontier, it’s unfinished, constantly shifting, and still being explored. Our job is to stay close to that uncertainty and help shape how this story gets told in a way that feels grounded and human. We do this through campaigns, launches, films, brand systems, and work that doesn’t fit neatly into any of those categories yet. This team is for people who want to help shape something from the beginning. Business Marketing helps organizations understand and put OpenAI’s products to work. Our creative team brings that story to life across campaigns, launches, and everyday marketing experiences. We work closely with marketing partners to make ambitious, thoughtful creative work that connects with business audiences. About the Role We’re looking for an experienced Events Designer to create memorable visual experiences across OpenAI events, live streams, and global product announcements. You’ll develop cohesive visual identities and translate them across keynote presentations, large-format screens, streaming graphics, event environments, and merchandise. Working closely with brand, marketing, events, motion, and production teams, you’ll bring strong creative thinking and hands-on design craft to every experience. In this role, you will - Design event experiences from concept to execution, including signage, wayfinding, wall graphics, apparel, merchandise, and other onsite brand applications. - Build cohesive visual systems that extend across physical environments, keynote presentations, large-format screens, and digital event touchpoints. - Create broadcast and livestream graphics, including overlays, lower thirds, titles, countdowns, and other motion-ready assets. - Storyboard and art-direct motion work in partnership with internal motion designers and external creative partners, ensuring consistency across formats. - Collaborate with producers, motion designers, video teams, artists, event planners, marketing, and product partners to translate event objectives into distinctive creative work. - Maintain and evolve OpenAI’s brand system in event contexts, creating reusable templates, documenting design decisions, and supporting the scalable execution of global events. You might thrive in this role if you have: - 8+ years of experience translating a creative concept into production-ready graphics for events, live broadcasts, or large-scale brand experiences. - A strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful, high-quality brand and experiential design across physical and digital surfaces. - Fluency with design tools and processes for visual identity, presentations, environmental graphics, and digital or motion design. - Excellent visual craft and attention to detail, including typography, composition, brand consistency, and production specifications. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain design decisions and partner with cross-functional teams and vendors. - Ability to manage overlapping projects and design timelines, adapt to ambiguity, and deliver excellent work under event deadlines. - Experience with livestream graphics, motion direction, large-format print production, or experiential design is a plus.
