Job description

About Humble Robotics Working at Humble Robotics means taking on the biggest change in ground transportation in decades. We’re building an autonomous, zero-emissions hauler that dramatically lowers the cost of freight with groundbreaking vision-based AI, designed for today’s global logistics network. We’re a fast-moving, close-knit team of AV industry veterans and innovative thinkers. We don’t believe culture can be engineered – but when it falls into place, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Progress has never felt so present. About The Role You’ll join the Hardware Integration team and work hands-on with the hardware behind our autonomous vehicle fleet. You’ll build and maintain our test benches, debug electrical issues across the fleet, and help bring up new hardware alongside our engineering teams and suppliers. The person who fills this role would primarily work from Humble Robotics’ San Francisco office 5 days a week. We aim to create an in office environment that fosters a collaborative, generative atmosphere where the team can build together. What You'll Do Build and maintain test benches for system integration and new hardware bring-up, keeping wiring, configuration, documentation, and change logs up to date Bring up new hardware and troubleshoot electrical issues on the bench and across the vehicle fleet, from first power-on through testing and validation Write scripts and small tools in Python or other languages to test, troubleshoot, and automate bench and vehicle checks Work closely with our engineering teams and supplier companies on hardware development and troubleshooting, and help put engineering changes into practice Build, test, and repair low-voltage and high-voltage harnesses and electrical boards as needed (including hi-pot testing), and support their design and design for manufacturing (DFM) Follow high-voltage and lockout/tagout safety practices and help keep the lab and garage organized What You Bring BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or related field; 0–2 years relevant experience (including internships, projects, and student teams such as Formula SAE or robotics) Hands-on electrical skills: using a DMM, oscilloscope, and bench power supply; reading schematics and wiring diagrams; crimping and soldering Basic understanding of 12/24V and high-voltage systems and CAN bus Basic programming skills in Python or other languages Comfortable working on vehicles, in the lab, and in the field, including lifting up to 50 lb; willing to be trained for high-voltage work Clear communication and attention to detail Eligible to work in the United States Bonus Points Experience with high-voltage systems or battery packs Experience building, testing, or designing harnesses or electrical boards (e.g., hi-pot testing, harness CAD, design for manufacturing) Experience using code to automate tests or analyze test data Familiarity with CAN tools (PCAN, SavvyCAN), Linux, and the command line Our space is a fast-moving field, and we don't expect any one candidate to tick every box above. If you're excited about building the systems that enable autonomous trucks to get safely on the road, and your background covers most — but not all — of what we've listed, we'd still love to hear from you. Humble Robotics is built by people who grew into the hardest problems in this field, not just people who'd already solved them.
