The Hardware Design Engineering role sits at the intersection of wireless silicon, and the rest of the SoCs in our products. You will be responsible for the end-to-end hardware design lifecycle of wireless subsystems — from architecture definition and schematic design through bring-up, characterization, and production validation. You will work closely with internal silicon, software, and platform teams as well as external chipset vendors to integrate wireless SoCs into Apple products. The role requires a strong foundation in digital interfaces, power distribution networks, firmware and system-level debug. You should be comfortable working in the lab, writing bare-metal firmware for hardware validation, and traveling internationally (~15%) to support build and bring-up activities.
Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree
Good understanding of protocol specifications for communication interfaces like PCIe, MIPI, I2C, SPI, UART etc.
Experience with power supply/power management and power distribution networks
Hands on debug experience with usage of modern lab equipment (DSOs, Logic Analyzers, Protocol Analyzers)
MSEE preferred with 2+ years of relevant experience
Experience in writing basic software routines and test scripts
Experience with mobile and/or embedded processors and memory systems
Experience with circuit schematic capture/layout
Strong desire to investigate system level issues and drive problems to closure in a team-based environment with a proactive demeanor
Successful track record of delivering highly innovative communication products
