Job description

Howie is hiring an AI engineer to join our small, product-focused team in Seattle. We’re building the modern secretary: an AI that schedules, briefs, and coordinates with the same speed and care as a human. Howie already runs the calendars of busy founders, executives, and teams, and we’re growing quickly. From programmatic prompt engineering and semantic retrieval to building eval frameworks and integrating LLM-based features into production. What you’ll do • Own the development and deployment of LLM-powered features end-to-end. • Design and maintain evaluation frameworks for prompts, retrieval, and inference. • Optimize embeddings, vector stores, and semantic search for performance and scalability. • Experiment with the latest advancements in LLMs and apply them to user-facing product features. • Work directly with users to understand their workflows and build features that deliver value. • Collaborate with backend, frontend, and product teams on architecture and design decisions. What we’re looking for • Experience shipping LLM-powered solutions into production. • Strong engineering background with TypeScript/Node.js and Python. • Familiarity with RAG, semantic retrieval, embeddings, and vector databases. • Experience with evaluation/inference platforms and prompt iteration. • Ability to move quickly and independently in a fast-paced environment. • Strong communication skills and eagerness to collaborate across disciplines. • Based in Seattle, WA or willing to relocate (we’re in Fremont). Bonus points: You’ve built and shipped your own AI projects.
