If you want to move forward with a company that brings its people with it. Fuller is where that happens.
About the role As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Fuller Technologies, you will serve as a regional technical authority for industrial equipment, leading complex engineering solutions, equipment upgrades, and aftermarket projects. You will independently make critical engineering decisions, ensure technical quality, and guide other engineers while helping customers improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency.
About the department Our Service Engineering team provides technical expertise for industrial equipment through aftermarket services, equipment upgrades, retrofits, replacements, and product improvements. The team collaborates with Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and global engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions and support customers throughout the equipment lifecycle.
Your Responsibilities Serve as the regional technical authority for assigned industrial equipment product lines, including kilns, preheaters, coolers, grinding equipment, or comparable machinery, independently making technical decisions and ensuring engineering quality and integrity.
Lead the development of complex technical proposals and engineered solutions for aftermarket, retrofit, replacement, and product improvement projects, ensuring technical feasibility, performance, and alignment with customer requirements.
Review and provide final technical approval of engineering proposals, 3D and 2D drawings, mechanical calculations, specifications, and other technical deliverables within delegated authority, including work prepared by less experienced engineers.
Perform, review, and validate advanced mechanical calculations and engineering analyses to support complex equipment designs, modifications, and technical decisions.
Lead complex equipment failure investigations, root cause analyses, warranty and claim assessments, non-conformance investigations, and design deviation reviews, establishing and defending technical recommendations and corrective actions.
Independently lead technical discussions with customers, including site assessments, troubleshooting workshops, escalated technical matters, and resolution of complex equipment challenges.
Partner proactively with Sales, Customer Service, and Business Development to develop technical solutions early in the sales process, identify aftermarket and retrofit opportunities, and recommend equipment upgrades and improvements.
Provide technical direction to Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, suppliers, and regional teams to resolve complex design, fabrication, installation, and operational challenges.
Direct, coordinate, and review the technical work of engineers, designers, and drafters assigned to projects, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with established engineering standards.
Mentor, train, and support the onboarding of junior engineers and technical personnel, strengthening their product knowledge, engineering capabilities, technical judgment, and understanding of company procedures and best practices.
Lead value engineering, standardization, and product improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
Own or co-own the development, maintenance, and implementation of engineering standards, design guides, specifications, templates, and standardized technical solutions for assigned product lines.
Provide product-specific engineering expertise and technical requirements to support configure-price-quote (CPQ) systems, design automation, and engineering process improvements.
Serve as the primary regional technical link to global engineering and product teams, supporting technical alignment, knowledge sharing, product improvements, and consistent application of engineering standards.
Interpret and apply relevant engineering standards, regulations, and industry best practices, ensuring technical compliance and providing guidance on complex engineering applications.
Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen engineering quality, consistency, efficiency, and technical capabilities across assigned product lines.
Maintain technical ownership of assigned projects from proposal through execution and delivery, ensuring accurate engineering documentation, timely technical decisions, and successful resolution of complex issues.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
You bring Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
8 years of progressive engineering experience , including significant experience with cement processing equipment or comparable heavy industrial process equipment.
Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more industrial equipment product lines, including kilns, preheaters, coolers, grinding equipment, or comparable industrial machinery.
Extensive experience in machine design, equipment modifications, and the development, review, and approval of complex engineering documentation.
Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or comparable 3D modeling and 2D engineering software.
Extensive experience performing, reviewing, and validating mechanical calculations, engineering analyses, and technical design evaluations.
Proven ability to independently investigate and resolve complex technical problems, including equipment failures, operational challenges, and customer-related technical issues.
Experience conducting root cause analyses, equipment failure investigations, warranty assessments, non-conformance evaluations, and design deviation reviews.
Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical customer discussions, conduct site assessments, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, and develop practical engineering recommendations.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, equipment installation, maintenance, and industrial operating environments.
Experience developing engineered solutions for aftermarket, retrofit, replacement, and product improvement projects.
Demonstrated experience reviewing and approving technical work prepared by engineers, designers, or drafters, and/or providing technical mentoring and training.
Experience leading or making significant contributions to value engineering, product standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience developing, maintaining, or implementing engineering standards, design guides, technical specifications, and standardized engineering solutions.
Advanced knowledge of applicable engineering standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
Strong technical judgment, with the ability to independently evaluate complex engineering challenges and make sound decisions within delegated authority.
