Description
BDR Solutions, LLC, (BDR) supports the U.S. Federal Government in successfully achieving its mission and goals. Position Summary:
BDR Solutions is building a candidate pipeline for the Kong / API Gateway Surge Engineer role for potential CLIN 0006 authorization. This role provides product-specific surge support when IRS authorizes a new API gateway product and determines additional capacity is needed. Surge work covers: gateway configuration, plugins/policies, routing, developer portal configuration, environment promotion, accelerated API migration waves, CI/CD integration, governance validation, observability integration, and knowledge transfer.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide product-specific engineering support for gateway configuration, plugins/policies, routing, certificates, runtime groups, developer portal configuration, and environment promotion within Government-approved boundaries
• Support accelerated API migration wave preparation, test execution, defect resolution, rollback validation, and dual-run troubleshooting when Government authorizes
• Support EAG/API-gateway CI/CD integration touchpoints, GitOps/configuration-as-code artifacts, governance validation, and observability and monitoring integration for the approved gateway product
• Provide knowledge transfer, technical office hours, configuration documentation, surge activity status reporting, and completion evidence for Government acceptance
Required Qualifications:
• Deep product-specific experience with Kong Enterprise, Kong Konnect, or comparable API gateway platform: plugins/policies, developer portal configuration, GitOps, observability integration
• API migration support: wave preparation, dual-run troubleshooting, rollback validation, test execution within Government-paced delivery
• CI/CD integration with Government-owned DevSecOps platforms for gateway configuration deployment — does not own CI/CD platform
• Knowledge transfer and technical documentation in a federal delivery context
• Active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Kong Certified Professional certification
• Direct Kong Enterprise federal implementation experience
The salary compensation range for this position is $170,000 – $210,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment is not guaranteed and will proceed only if the associated contract is awarded and funded.
In addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Select applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Individuals may also be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
