Job description

ABOUT SAGE CARE Sage Care is a fast-growing, early-stage healthcare startup founded by exceptional leaders from Apple, Uber, Carbon Health and backed by top-tier venture capital (General Catalyst, Chelsea Clinton). With a strong customer pipeline, Sage Care is transforming healthcare by simplifying care navigation. Our platform makes it easier for patients to find the right doctor, helps providers focus on those who need them most, and ensures faster access to care, delivering better care and stronger economic outcomes at scale through harnessing the latest AI innovations. Building on our successful collaborations with health systems across the U.S., we have expanded internationally to the MENA region. We are now partnering with health systems there to deploy our AI-powered care navigation platform. ABOUT THE ROLE We’re hiring a product-focused Software Engineer to build voice AI experiences that help patients get the care they need. This is a full-stack role with a strong backend focus. You’ll work across backend services, AI systems, integrations, and voice stack, owning features from understanding the customer problem through launch and improvement. You’ll partner closely with product and engineering to make conversations more useful, responsive, and reliable. We welcome engineers with 2+ years of professional experience, including more senior candidates. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build and ship voice AI features and patient workflows end to end. - Develop backend services and integrations that let agents retrieve information and take actions. - Improve conversation behavior, latency, and reliability across the voice and AI stack. - Use production conversations and customer feedback to improve the experience. - Own testing, monitoring, and production debugging for your features. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR This role requires at least 2 years of full-time professional software engineering experience. Internships, coursework, and personal projects do not meet this requirement. Please apply only if you meet this minimum. Required - 2+ years of software engineering experience - Experience shipping and maintaining production software used by real customers. - Strong backend engineering skills, including APIs, services, and data modeling. - Product judgment: you understand customer needs, clarify ambiguous requirements, and make practical tradeoffs. - Ability to independently deliver features, investigate production issues, and collaborate closely with product and engineering. Nice to Have - Experience building applications with LLMs or AI agents. - Experience with voice, streaming, or real-time systems. - Experience at an early-stage startup.
