Job description

Senior Technical Product Manager, Payer Products Team: Product · Level: Senior · Location: Remote About the role Mongoose builds the software that health plans, TPAs, and their clients rely on to administer benefits. We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to own our payer-facing product portfolio end to end — from strategy and roadmap through delivery and client rollout. This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable writing a crisp PRD, sitting in a client implementation call untangling a real-world edge case, and understand why something behaves the way it does. You'll set direction for payer products while staying close enough to implementations to make sure what we ship actually lands for the clients using it. What you'll do • Own the payer product roadmap. Define the vision, strategy, and prioritization for one or more payer products, balancing client needs, market trends, and technical feasibility. • Write clear, complete PRDs. Translate ambiguous problems into well-scoped requirements that engineering, design, and QA can execute against with minimal back-and-forth. • Partner on client implementations. Work directly with implementation and client-services teams during rollouts — surfacing product gaps, unblocking configuration and integration issues, and feeding real deployment learnings back into the roadmap. • Lead cross-functionally. Drive alignment across engineering, design, client services, sales, and compliance without formal authority. Keep everyone rowing in the same direction. • Direct the product design work. Collaborate closely with UX designers to shape flows and interfaces; give clear problem framing and sharp feedback so the design solves the right thing. • Manage and grow analysts. Directly manage product/business analysts — setting priorities, coaching, and turning their analysis into decisions. • Stay technical. Engage with engineers at the level of architecture and trade-offs. Review technical designs, understand system constraints, and make informed calls on scope and sequencing. What we're looking for • 5+ years in product management, including ownership of complex B2B or enterprise products; time at senior/lead level preferred. • Payer domain expertise — hands-on familiarity with health insurance / payer operations: claims, benefits administration, member and eligibility data, accumulators, coverage, or related areas. You understand how payers actually work. • Engineering background — you were an engineer by trade (or have equivalent hands-on technical depth). You can reason about systems, and hold your own in an architecture discussion. • Demonstrated experience writing PRDs and shipping products through a full lifecycle. • Experience working alongside implementation or professional-services teams on client deployments. • Track record of leading cross-functional teams and partnering effectively with UX/design. • People-management experience, or clear readiness to manage analysts. • Strong communication skills — able to move fluidly between an executive summary and a technical deep-dive. Nice to have • Experience at a TPA, health plan, or payer-technology / benefits-administration company. • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and regulatory context (e.g., HIPAA, EDI 834/837, FHIR). • Experience with configurable, multi-tenant enterprise platforms.
