Job description

About Pantheon Pantheon brings together exceptional builders who take ownership, drive meaningful impact, and shape what's next for the web. We power more than 300,000 websites globally for organizations including Google, Princeton, Salesloft, Clorox, and the United Nations. Every day, thousands of developers and marketers use our WebOps platform to build, iterate, and scale WordPress, Drupal, and Next.js sites that reach billions of people worldwide. As an employer, we operate with the same philosophy that drives our product: foundation and freedom. Pantheon is a vibrant, remote-forward team of experts who care deeply about their craft and results. Here, you take ownership of work that matters, contribute alongside exceptional people, and see the impact you create. The Opportunity Pantheon is building the next generation of web content infrastructure — a real-time, collaborative platform that redefines how teams create, publish, and manage content on the modern web. Content management has been largely unchanged for two decades. We are changing that. As a Software Engineer II on this team, you will be an early engineer on a founding-stage product with real momentum behind it. You will build features end-to-end, contribute to architectural decisions, and work alongside a small, senior team that moves fast and cares deeply about craft. This is not a role where you wait for tickets — it is a role where you help define what gets built and how. The Role You will work across the full stack — backend services, APIs, and frontend systems — building the core capabilities of a real-time collaborative content platform. You will work closely with a small team of engineers, as well as product and design partners, to ship features that developers and content teams rely on every day. This team is early-stage by design. The product is being defined as it is built, and every engineer on the team has a meaningful voice in that process. If you are energized by that kind of environment, this is the right place. What You Need to Succeed Build and ship full-stack features across backend services, APIs, and frontend interfaces Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with shared ownership of quality Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions as an active participant, not just an implementer Collaborate closely with product and design to translate requirements into working, well-crafted software Integrate AI tooling into your development workflow and into the product itself Participate in code review and help maintain a high engineering bar across the team Learn and grow quickly — this is a team that will stretch you in the best possible way What You Bring to the Table 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience Solid full-stack capability — you have shipped production code on both backend and frontend, and you are willing to stretch into whichever side a problem requires Experience with modern API design: REST, GraphQL, or webhooks Comfortable working in cloud-native environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure) Strong fundamentals: you write tests, understand tradeoffs, and think about maintainability Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one backend language Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience You are actively building with AI — using it in your development workflow or integrating it into the products you work on. What We Offer We have all the usual perks and benefits but what we can really offer you is a fantastic work environment powered by an amazing team. Industry competitive compensation and equity plan Flexible time off, sick days, and 13 paid holidays Comprehensive medical insurance including Health, Dental and Vision Paid parental leave (plus fertility, adoption and other family planning benefits) In-office workspace (San Francisco & Chicago) Monthly allowance for wellness, reading and access to LinkedIn Learning for continued development Events and activities both team-based and company wide that inspire, educate and cultivate Pantheon is an equal opportunity employer and we welcome applications from all backgrounds regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, disability, or any other classification protected by law. Pantheon complies with federal and local disability laws and makes reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities. If you need a reasonable accommodation due to a disability for any part of the interview process, please contact talent@pantheon.io. Pursuant to local and federal regulations, Pantheon will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records for employment. After an offer is made and accepted, E-verify will be utilized to establish your identity and employment eligibility as required by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
