Job description

About Brick... Brick is transforming how people interact with technology—helping people minimize distractions, reclaim focus, and live more intentionally. Our physical device and companion app turn smartphones from sources of distraction into tools for presence and productivity. We’re on a mission to help people take back control of their time and attention so they can focus on what matters most—and we’re building a team of thoughtful, driven people to make that happen. Most apps compete for your attention. Brick gives it back. It's a physical device you tap to lock away the apps you don't want, and hundreds of thousands of them are already on desks, nightstands and kitchen counters. Founded in 2023 and self funded, our mission is to help 1 billion people build a healthier relationship with technology. Job Summary / About the Role: We are looking for a Senior Product Designer, Growth, who will work closely with a growth-focused Product Manager and will own how Brick grows. The plan and outcomes are yours to build and execute. With a driven engineering team, you will own designing, building, and launching new member experiences and partnerships that make Brick's products and brand ubiquitous. You will take Brick beyond individuals to shared spaces where people want to be more intentional at campuses, coffee shops, libraries, parties, and workplaces. You will collaborate with our design team on continuing to elevate the craft of Brick software and hardware experiences. You will partner closely with our marketing and operations teams to build for humans and help sell a healthier relationship with technology. Location: This role is based in San Francisco or Chicago. We come together in person at least three days a week for close collaboration time, balanced with deliberate focus time while remote. What You’ll Do: Design new ways for members to get more out of Brick, end to end: understand what they would value, design and validate it, then build and ship with engineering Understand and design the moments that help Brick customers see the ongoing value Make the flow from discovery to purchase to first use feel like magic Design how Brick moves from individual to shared spaces: partners, universities, libraries, workplaces Run experiments in parallel, prototyping with AI to validate ideas with customers in days. Once we've validated an idea, build with the highest craft and quality to live up to our brand promise. While working with our consumer research team, run your own scrappy research too, from campus tables to customer calls Partner with marketing and brand so growth feels unique to Brick, not like every other growth playbook In Your First Six Months You'll... Ship new member experiences and own their conversion and retention numbers Run a steady cadence of experiments, with a clear read on what worked and why Bring a point of view, backed by evidence, on our next growth channel Who You Are: 4+ years designing consumer products, including a subscription or high-growth product where you moved conversion, retention or a loop, and can show the results Low ego, are kind, and communicate with directness, seeking feedback that flows both ways You enjoy working an iterative process, and are motivated by feedback and critique An owner mindset: you understand the outcomes, and you bring solutions to problems Strong visual craft and product judgement. You can turn a loved brand into delightful experiences people tell their friends about Range: you research, write copy, read data, design in Figma, and prototype without waiting on anyone Exceptional Candidates May Also Have... Experience shipping hardware plus software Onboarding and activation work Health or behavior change work Partnerships or B2B2C experience Motion and animation skills This Role Probably Isn't For You If.... You want a finished product spec handed to you You measure success in features shipped, not numbers moved You'd rather polish one idea for a month than test five in a week Growth to you means boosting metrics with tricks that are anti-human and burn customer trust Why You'll Love Working at Brick: Real ownership: you own a business, not a feature A product people already love: your job is to identify why people love it, scale it, not to find product market fit Hardware and software: design from the box to the app A making culture: kind yet demanding, with direct feedback, quick iteration and strong opinions loosely held How to Apply: Send a portfolio with two things: one growth project that shows the numbers, and one idea you killed and why. Our process is an intro call, a portfolio review, a case study with engineering, and a conversation with marketing. This is a full-time hybrid role (preference for Chicago and San Francisco based candidates) with a $150,000-$205,000 annual base salary depending on experience and qualifications. What we care about We’re building a team of people who take ownership, move with focus, and care deeply about the quality and impact of their work. We hold a high bar, prioritize what matters, and believe the best ideas come from thoughtful, driven individuals who are trusted to execute. Compensation & benefits We offer competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and comprehensive benefits for you and your family. We also prioritize flexibility, time to recharge, and a culture that supports both high performance and sustainable work. If you’re excited about our mission and this role, we’d love to hear from you.
