Job description

About the Role EnergyHub empowers utilities and their customers to build a cleaner, more distributed energy future — helping consumers turn smart thermostats, EVs, and batteries into virtual power plants that keep the grid stable and expand renewable capacity. We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join a growing Finance team at an exciting moment in EnergyHub’s evolution. You'll own key pieces of our close process and financial reporting, serve as the accounting point of contact across both the EnergyHub team and our parent company Alarm.com (Nasdaq: ALRM), and have genuine influence over how our accounting function evolves. This is a role for someone who holds themselves to a high standard, communicates clearly across teams, and wants their work to matter beyond the month-end close. What You'll Do Lead EnergyHub's month-end close process — journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared with accuracy and on time Prepare and review financial statements and management reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP Review and evaluate contracts for revenue recognition under ASC 606, working closely with program managers to ensure key terms are captured correctly Support external audits, including preparation of workpapers and direct coordination with auditors Assist with accounts receivable and invoicing processes, including coordination with customer success and operations teams to resolve open items Partner with FP&A on monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting Serve as the liaison between EnergyHub and Alarm.com corporate accounting — translating, escalating, and keeping both sides aligned Support SOX compliance requirements as part of our public company reporting environment Explain accounting requirements and the why behind them to non-accounting stakeholders — clearly, without jargon Identify process gaps and build scalable solutions that improve how we operate What We're Looking For Must-haves Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated process ownership Solid, working knowledge of U.S. GAAP Experience in a public company environment Strong communicator — able to hold technical standards while explaining requirements in plain language to non-accountants High personal standards for accuracy, documentation, and completeness Nice-to-haves CPA license (strongly preferred) Experience in SaaS, software, energy, or tech Comfort building processes in a high-growth or transitional environment How You'll Work You take ownership of your work and hold the output to a high bar. You understand that accounting isn't just about closing the books — it's about building trust in the numbers, protecting the business, and helping other teams make better decisions. When something doesn't look right, you dig in. When a policy or requirement seems unclear to a colleague, you explain the why — because you know that understanding drives better outcomes than compliance alone. You're comfortable working independently and navigating between teams, and you know when to escalate, when to push back, and when to just get it done. Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time. Why work for EnergyHub? Collaborate with outstanding people: Our employees work hard, do great work, and enjoy collaborating and learning from each other. Work with the latest technologies: You'll gain exposure to a broad spectrum of IoT, SaaS and machine learning obstacles, including distributed fault-tolerance, device control optimization, and process modeling to support scalable interaction with disparate downstream APIs. Be part of something important: Help create the future of how energy is produced and consumed. Make a positive impact on our climate.
