Job description

About Voltus Voltus is the leading platform connecting distributed energy resources to electricity markets, delivering more affordable, reliable, and sustainable power. Our commercial and industrial (C&I) customers, along with our residential and grid services partners, earn revenue by allowing Voltus to maximize the value of their flexible load, distributed generation, energy storage, energy efficiency, and electric vehicle resources. Our product is tested and proven, and we have moved from startup to a stage of significant, rapid growth. We believe in "doing well by doing good," which includes doing right by our team, customers, and partners. The Role Voltus is seeking a Battery Sales Director to build and grow a book of battery customers across the Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes regions. As load growth accelerates, the grid faces structural constraints, and speed-to-power and affordability have become foundational to economic growth. Voltus has a long history of delivering faster, cleaner, lower-cost capacity by optimizing existing infrastructure. Now we are creating even more value by helping customers deploy batteries that cut their energy costs further. In this role, you will develop the customer relationships that make this possible, working directly with the facilities, manufacturers, and institutions that will host batteries on-site to create grid capacity. Key metrics: MW of battery Letters of Intent (LOIs) signed, MW of Energy Services Agreements (ESAs) signed, and MW of batteries enrolled in market programs. Key Responsibilities Generate your own pipeline through outbound calls, email outreach, and self-sourced lead development across the territory Lead the sales cycle from first call through contract close, working closely with our partnerships team and battery partners. Build relationships with energy, operations, and finance decision-makers at hospitals, universities, large manufacturers, and municipalities Educate prospects on Voltus's battery offerings and translate grid economics into operational and financial value for each account Maintain accurate pipeline data, forecasts, and deal activity in the CRM Share market intelligence with internal and partner teams, and help refine outreach strategy and improve close rates over time Who You Are You understand how C&I customers think and how to help an organization make a complex energy decision quickly. You are customer-focused and detail-oriented over a long sales and development cycle, and you collaborate well with senior stakeholders at customers, partners, and across Voltus. You adapt quickly to change in a dynamic industry. An open mind and grit are essential. Qualifications 3+ years of quota-carrying B2B sales experience, with a proven track record of self-generated outbound prospecting and closing net-new business Experience selling into C&I accounts; existing relationships with hospital groups, universities, large manufacturers, or municipalities in the region are a strong plus Battery or similar energy industry sales and development experience strongly preferred Coachable and feedback-oriented, with a long-term mindset A genuine team player who shares insights and lessons learned Comfort with self-direction and ambiguity Please note that at this time, we do not sponsor visas or transfers for new hires. Voltus teammates need to be authorized to work from their home location (in the US or Canada, unless otherwise indicated on the role description). Additionally, while Voltus is an all-remote workplace, we have limitations on where employees are able to work for regulatory and security reasons. We expect that Voltans are working primarily from their home country. Working while traveling to other countries must be approved as per our Global Remote Travel Policy.
