Job description

ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED In this role, you will design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex, high-performance software systems—ranging from processing-intensive analytics and novel algorithm development to managing extremely large datasets and real-time architectures. Working both individually and collaboratively within a tight-knit team, you will drive the full development lifecycle: evaluating hardware/software trade-offs, driving GOTS/COTS integrations, conducting rigorous component testing, and translating system-level requirements into scalable code. If you love dissecting difficult problems, taking pride in clean architecture, and bringing your authentic self to high-stakes defense tech, Team Nyla wants you on board! The annual base salary range for this role is $149,000-$176,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. • Software Development Mastery: Demonstrated hands-on software engineering expertise with core languages (such as Java, C++, Python, or Go) in full-lifecycle, requirement-driven environments. • Large-Scale & Processing-Intensive Systems: Proven ability to build, maintain, and optimize processing-intensive analytical systems, real-time architectures, or ultra-large dataset workflows. • System Design & Requirements Synthesis: Skill in evaluating system-level requirements, performing hardware/software trade-off analyses, and implementing reusable code or COTS/GOTS integrations. • Rigorous Testing & Bug Resolution: Direct experience writing unit/integration tests, reviewing components against design specifications, and resolving software problem reports (SPRs). Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 7+ years of professional software engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in a related field, PLUS 5+ years of specialized software engineering experience OR High School Diploma / GED , PLUS 11+ years of hands-on technical software development and big data administration experience in lieu of a degree. Experience with distributed computing frameworks, cloud-native deployments (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), or stream processing technologies. Strong familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and agile development methodologies. Excellent problem-solving capabilities, adaptability, and a strong commitment to team collaboration and technical excellence.
