Job description
Business Development Representative - (Field Services)
Skimmer getskimmer.com is on a mission: to modernize the pool and spa service, repair, and construction industry. We’re a private equity-backed company with 7000+ customers using Skimmer’s pool service platform to transform their businesses. But we’re not stopping there (there are over 70,000 pool service companies in this surprisingly large “niche” space).
Our customers love us almost as much as we love them (check out our reviews capterra.com and our NPS score of 68!)
We are currently #615 on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies (#74 in Texas and #63 in Software!), on the Deloitte Fast 500, one of Built In Austin's Best Startups, ABJ’s 6th Fastest Growing Company, and most importantly one of Austin's Best Places for Working Parents for the last 5 years. We’re proud of the incredible company we’ve built, and we’re just getting started.
We’re looking for big thinkers with small egos, so let’s dive in!
OUR VALUES: AT SKIMMER WE
- Realize our customers' success is our success.
- Build humble, diverse teams who have fun winning.
- Drive results with urgency.
- Earn trust through transparent communication.
THE ROLE:
We're looking for a motivated Business Development Representative to join our sales development team. As a BDR, you'll be the first point of contact for potential customers, responsible for generating qualified opportunities for our Account Executive team. This is an excellent position for someone looking to build a career in B2B SaaS sales within a growing company. The skills and resourcefulness you will learn in this BDR role will be instrumental in everything else you do later in your sales career. You’ll also benefit from working with world-class revenue leaders across the GTM org (Marketing, Sales, Success, and Support).
THE TEAM:
- The Field Service Sales team today is 8 sales representatives- (4 BDRs / 4 AEs) reporting to our Director of Sales
- All reps are remote and support each other throughout the day
- Our current tech stack is Hubspot, Nooks, Clay, Zoom, Gong, ChatGPT/Claude(your choice), & G-suite; we’re AI forward as long as it benefits our customers’ experience with Skimmer
- We live our values- we’re hardworking, humble, and believe that our customer’s success is our success.
- Career development is a priority- we have a high employee retention rate and eNPS because we truly care about our people and their growth.
- This is not a ‘sit-back and roll through calls’ type of BDR role. Our BDR team is made up of extremely hungry, creative, and relentless sellers. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply to become the next ‘A-Player’ BDR on our team of All-Stars.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Lead Generation & Prospecting
- Execute high-volume outbound prospecting campaigns via phone, email, SMS and other channels.
- Roughly 100+ calls per day (we’ll provide your leads and the tools required to hit that activity level with relative ease)
- Generate a certain level of qualified prospects who book and attend a discovery/demo meeting with an AE
- Utilize sales tools including our CRM, sales engagement platforms, and prospecting databases
- Work closely with the AEs to understand how you can best support them and to learn from them to further your sales career
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Some professional experience in sales, business development, or customer-facing roles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with professional phone presence and demonstrated listening skills
- Comfort with high-volume cold calling and email outreach (100+ calls per day minimum - but we give you the tools to do this with ease, like Nooks.)
- Experience with CRM systems and sales tools (HubSpot is a huge plus)
- Self-motivated with strong work ethic and ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Urgent enthusiasm to learn and excel in your career
NICE TO HAVES:
- Previous experience selling to service-based businesses or field service management software
- Knowledge of the pool service industry or related home service businesses
- Experience selling for subscription-based SaaS businesses
- “Never give up” positive attitude and ability to engage customers on the phone
- Familiarity with route optimization, scheduling, or service management software
BENEFITS
- Competitive base pay + bonus potential
- Generous medical, dental, and vision plans (we pay 100% of your premium and 50% of your dependents’)
- Fantastic culture with a very strong eNPS- we work hard, celebrate wins, and learn as we go to always be improving to benefit our customers.
- Immediate access to 401(k) with company match
- Flexible PTO (MINIMUM of 10 days required every year)
- 12 weeks paid parental leave for birthing parent, 6 weeks paid leave for supporting partner
- Remote work friendly
- Comprehensive learning and development budget
- A manager dedicated to your development
