Job description

We are designing the experiences that power Amazon's worldwide delivery network - enabling the delivery of billions of packages to customers in record speeds, and providing for a safe, efficient, and rewarding work experience for millions of people. The impact here is palpable. Every Amazon package you see on every doorstep - you are part of that. The systems you design touch every mile of the journey, from the moment an order leaves a fulfillment center to the moment it arrives at a customer's door. You will see your impact in the real world, every single day. Our design team sits at the intersection of complex operational systems and human-centered thinking - making the invisible infrastructure that moves everything work better for everyone. You are joining a team with a unified vision. Every designer here contributes to the same mission: building world-class experiences that make Amazon's delivery network safer, faster, and more rewarding for the people who power it. In this role, you'll tackle one of the hardest problems in logistics: designing the systems that help operators and leaders make split-second decisions that move billions of packages. You'll be embedded with ShipTech, continuously spending time in the field—in warehouses, delivery stations, and sorting centers—learning from operators and understanding their toughest challenges. You'll own the user experience for a focused workstream, working with product and engineering to translate those insights into clear, usable designs that people actually rely on. To succeed, you must be genuinely curious about how work happens and driven by field research. You'll partner with designers across the organization to raise the bar on design craft and coherence. Join us in making complex decisions feel simple for the people keeping Amazon moving. Key job responsibilities Conduct in-depth workflow research and mapping across operator and leadership user groups to understand operational tasks, pain points, and decision-making processes Translate strategic direction into specific UX concepts, interaction flows, and design patterns grounded in real operational workflows Design and iterate on user experiences through rapid prototyping, informed by ongoing field research and operator validation Create design artifacts and documentation ready for engineering handoff, ensuring clarity and technical feasibility Drive design consistency and establish patterns that scale across related workstreams Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure designs are technically sound and operationally grounded Aggregate and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research data to inform design decisions Present design rationale and research insights to stakeholders, building alignment around user-centered approaches Contribute to design reviews and feedback cycles, raising the bar for design quality across the team About the team Under the Roof is a design team within Amazon Delivery Experience.
