Job description

FOUNDING DESIGNER WHO IS AUTOMAT? Automat was founded by a diverse group of creative technologists from teams like Google Creative Lab and Samsung’s Innovation Think Tank. We're building a future where intelligent agents run real business operations, not just support them. Automat Workforce puts AI coworkers directly inside a company's existing tools to handle day-to-day operational work, and our Studio platform gives customers a fully managed way to build, deploy, and monitor their own agents and automations. We believe that building automations will be as simple as showing a coworker an workflow to automate: Imagine a skillful automation developer sitting over your shoulder, turning your most boring workflows into reliable, deterministic automations that execute in seconds. Come help us build this. Practically - we're redefining Enterprise AI Agents RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), developing the necessary tooling and infrastructure to incorporate the advancements of AI into practical, real-world applications. THE ROLE We’re looking for a designer who will play a critical role in designing Automat’s platform and creating a brand language through every surface of the Automat experience. You’ll work directly with our co-founder CEO, Lucas Ochoa and need to have better design taste than he. (did he write this, he may have yes) The ideal candidate will have deep technical skill in design and an appreciation for excellent engineering. Ideally you’ve previously combined both in order to build brilliant products experiences and materials that are balanced, efficient, and work perfectly in their time and context. We’re trying to find the 2025 software equivalent of the mid century designers Plywood. If this sounds interesting, please help us do that. YOU’RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU… - Have great taste - Can solve ambiguous problem spaces through making - You’ve thought about apple products a lot - and say 99 No’s for every Yes - have prior experience in a fast-moving, high-growth setting - Have taken experiences end to end: from concept to production - are inspired by the new creative possibilities that AI interactions enable and are eager to invent. - On occasion clean the metaphorical toilet youtu.be Likely Behaviors: - Dream in Figma auto layout - You’re “vibe-coding” prototypes for your design ideas - Are visually and therefore viscerally offended when you see poorly spaced type or an improperly nested corner radius - Are meticulous about keeping your design portfolio up to date (only kidding) BONUSES - You care about good writing - Have received some awards for your incredible product / design work - You’ve coded full stack apps on your own before - Know how to use Git
