Job description

Evio Overview Evio is a highly unique pharmacy solutions company that was founded by and works closely with health plans to implement transformative (to cost, quality, access and experience) initiatives primarily focused on specialty and other high-cost medication solutions. In 2020, a group of five amazing Blue Cross Blue Shield health plans that in total serve more than 20 million members recognized that the way medications get to patients needs significant reform—rapidly rising costs and massive system complexities are detrimental to patients and the entire industry. In 2025, Wellmark joined as Evio's first non-founding investor and sixth owner health plan. Each company made, and continues to make, significant investments to establish Evio as an independent entity to lead this transformation.
Evio has advanced analytics and contracting capabilities at scale , and a suite of digital tools , to power our high-cost medication solutions. Our solutions act as a self-reinforcing “ flywheel ” where each element strengthens and feeds into the next, and support an “Only Evio can do that,” mindset and prioritization. Evio is also a company that has invested heavily in and been highly intentional about people, team and culture. We believe we have created a very special place to work and encourage candidates to observe and ask us about our culture and decide for themselves. Evio's Values Empathy – The people our business serves always come first. We care for our teammates and put ourselves in the shoes of our health plan customers and the patients and clinicians our solutions benefit. Diversity – We are committed to fostering a culture where everyone belongs and is valued for their background, experience and insights – one that encourages diversity of ideas, and is a nurturing, trusting, and accepting place for all. Adventure – We are flexible, thrive in ambiguity, fail fast, and pivot quickly to get to a better answer. We celebrate wins and pivots with equal intensity. Relentless – Guided by evidence and data, we are creative, curious, and unwavering in our pursuit of challenging the status quo and each other. Transparency – Just as we seek to bring transparency to the pharmacy supply chain, authenticity and integrity are core to the way we communicate. Excellence – We strive to raise the bar in all we do by hiring and developing exceptional talent and holding ourselves and our thinking to the highest standard. About the role As an Applied Real-World Data Scientist , you will lead the development and execution of research, analytics, and reporting powering Evio Insights, a product within our Digital Health portfolio. Evio Insights uses real-world evidence (RWE) to generate recommendations related to policy and utilization management, prescriber and patient outreach, care management, and contracting to support high-value medication use. In this role, you will collaborate with teammates across engineering, data, and client-facing teams to uncover insights from our data that help patients access high-cost medications in a simple and affordable way. You will use your analytical skills, innovative mindset, and tenacity to discover ways health plans can improve patients’ medication experiences. Your technical skills, curiosity, and health plan empathy will drive the evolution of Evio Insights to ensure it continues to meet the needs of health plan customers. You will own the analytic lifecycle from problem to recommendation: you’ll translate ambiguous health plan problems into research questions, selecting the appropriate study or modeling approach, executing the analysis, and communicating clear, actionable recommendations. What you will do: Analytics and product innovation Develop reusable analytical frameworks, study templates, and automated workflows to improve scalability, efficiency, quality, and consistency across Evio Insights Explore data to identify signals, trends, utilization patterns, and anomalies that inform project hypotheses and strategic decision-making Apply machine learning and advanced analytics techniques (such as predictive modeling, natural language processing, graph neural networks, and unsupervised clustering) to develop and advance product capabilities Evaluate new data sources, analytical methods, and advanced analytics approaches—including predictive modeling, forecasting, and patient segmentation—to determine their potential value for Evio Insights. Contribute to project planning, prioritization, quality review, and continuous improvement of Evio Insights research and analytics. Product delivery Design and execute RWE projects—including observational studies, comparative effectiveness studies, predictive modeling of cost/clinical outcomes, and other analytics projects focused on patient outcomes, medication utilization, and healthcare costs Collaborate with pharmacists, RWE/HEOR researchers, data scientists, analysts, engineers, product managers, and client-facing teammates to deliver high-quality analyses and evidence Develop clear analytical plans, outcome definitions, and validation approaches that produce reliable and decision-ready evidence Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable insights through presentations, slide decks, manuscripts, and client-facing communications Conduct feasibility assessments and exploratory analyses to identify and evaluate research and analytics project opportunities Reporting and value measurement Develop reporting and data visualizations summarizing the impact and cost-savings potential of Evio Insights recommendations to health plans Apply appropriate program-evaluation methods—such as matched comparisons, difference-in-differences, interrupted time-series analyses, or other quasi-experimental approaches to assess the impact of interventions, including prescriber outreach, member outreach, and policy and utilization management changes Develop reporting that identifies emerging medication utilization and cost trends, surfaces potential clinical and financial opportunities, and supports RWE study ideation, prioritization, and strategic decision-making. Minimum qualifications: 5+ years of experience in healthcare analytics, real-world evidence, health economics and outcomes research, data science, or a related field. 5+ years of experience with machine learning and advanced analytical methods, such as predictive modeling, forecasting, and unsupervised learning/segmentation. Experience working with administrative claims data Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one analytical programming language, such as Python or R. Experience designing statistical comparisons, analytical plans, and decision-grade analyses for a variety of use case Skills to design and execute descriptive analytics, outcomes-based analytics, and predictive analytics Experience developing automated, reusable, or production-ready analytical workflows and reporting solutions. Ability to communicate technical information to a range of audiences including executives, analysts, actuaries, and clinicians—via written and verbal communication Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently explore data, identify insights, and recommend actionable solutions Preferred qualifications: Experience working with healthcare data beyond administrative claims, such as prior authorization, laboratory, electronic health records, or social determinants of health. Familiarity with commercially available real-world data analytics platforms Experience using AI to analyze real-world data, automate workflows, or perform quality assurance Familiarity with high-cost and specialty medications and how they are managed by health plans via medical policy, utilization management, and formularies How you show up: Founder's mentality: You prototype, create, and iterate without waiting for permission or perfect infrastructure. Resilient and pragmatic: You are comfortable with ambiguity, escalation, and imperfect information, and you choose practical, high-leverage solutions over perfection. Bias for outcomes: Your core focus is creating value for customers and the patients they impact. As a relentless self-starter, you are oriented to take action to solve a problem. Exceptional communicator: You can communicate crisply with payer executives, internal leaders, product experts, and others regardless of whether they have a technical background. EQ and relationship building: You build strong internal and external relationships and navigate complex organizations with empathy, awareness, and overall high emotional intelligence Structured thinking: You’re an organized thinker and able to manage multiple priorities without losing momentum Judgement and balance: You balance thoughtful analysis with speed, knowing when to go deep and when to move fast. Innovation: You bring energy, curiosity, and excitement for challenging the status quo with strong value alignment to Evio’s vision Compensation: Anticipated annual base pay range: $160,000 - $190,000 plus additional variable compensation. At Evio, we’re committed to building a competitive compensation package to honor the value our teammates bring as well as attract and retain top talent that is aligned with our culture, mission and values.
