Job description

As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon’s unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers’ businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon’s real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use. We're the team behind Amazon WorkSpaces — the cloud desktop platform that lets millions of users provision secure Windows, Amazon Linux, or Ubuntu desktops and access them from any device or browser, without anyone having to procure hardware or wrestle with complex installs. Users scale up or down instantly as their organization changes. If you like working on problems where latency, security, reliability, and scale all collide at once, this is your kind of role. You'll be joining the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, where our mission is to build intuitive, differentiated business applications — powered by Amazon's real-world experience — that millions of companies use to run their day-to-day operations. We build opinionated, turnkey solutions that customers choose to buy over build, and we aim to be the trusted partner they don't have to think twice about. The End User Computing market is growing at an incredible pace right now, which means you'll be solving some of the most interesting problems in providing secure, fast, highly scalable streaming infrastructure — while working across industry-leading AWS services. Our team is innovating across multiple areas to deliver the best-in-class interactive streaming platform, and as an SDE you'll own features end-to-end, ship to real enterprise and ISV customers, and have a direct hand in shaping what world-class application streaming looks like next. We are looking for passionate SDEs who want to build their career in End User Computing. If this sounds interesting to you, talk to us! Key job responsibilities As an SDE on the WorkSpaces team, you'll design and build features for our cloud desktop and interactive streaming platform — end to end, from scoping through production. You'll write clean, maintainable code that runs at scale, optimize real-time streaming paths for latency and reliability, and operate what you ship (including on-call). You'll work across multiple AWS services to deliver secure, highly available infrastructure that enterprise and ISV customers depend on daily. Expect to dive deep into performance — profiling, benchmarking, identifying bottlenecks — and collaborate with senior engineers on system design and architecture decisions. You'll participate in code reviews, raise the bar on engineering standards, and contribute to operational excellence across the team. When something's broken or could be better, you take initiative and fix it. You'll also help us figure out how to scale — both technically (millions of concurrent desktops) and as a team (mentoring, improving processes, writing useful documentation). The End User Computing space is evolving fast, so you'll frequently evaluate new approaches and help decide where we invest next to keep our streaming platform best-in-class. A day in the life On a typical day, you'll balance executing on our long-term roadmap with responding to emerging customer issues and finding inventive ways to satisfy new customer needs. You'll work closely with engineers, product managers, and partner teams across AWS like networking and security. Your customers are enterprise IT organizations and ISV partners who need desktops that are reliable, secure, and fast — so the feedback loop is tight and the problems are real. Beyond regular engineering work, there's always room to stretch into areas like mentoring or shaping team direction. About the team ABOUT AWS: Diverse Experiences Amazon values diverse experiences.
