Job description

This is a fully remote role within the United States. We're looking for a frontend-leaning Software Engineer II who loves building intuitive, data-rich user experiences and wants their work to matter. At Turquoise Health, we're making healthcare pricing transparent and understandable, and the interfaces you build will be how hospitals, insurers, and everyday people actually make sense of that data. You’ll be a key member of a small, highly skilled engineering team, collaborating closely with the product team to shape the user experience from the component level up to the product decisions that influence them. While this is a full stack role and you'll touch backend systems, your primary impact will be in crafting the UI layer: turning complex healthcare pricing data into clean, interactive, and performant web experiences. We're a fast moving startup, so you'll move fast too, taking on varied problems, shipping real features, and collaborating directly with the people who use what you build. RESPONSIBILITIES - Development of Django-based websites using Python, Postgresql, etc. - Build frontend data visualization components that enable users to explore and interpret complex healthcare pricing data - Write effective, scalable code. - Test and debug programs - Improve functionality of existing systems - Assess and prioritize feature requests - Coordinate with other team members to understand user requirements and provide technical solutions WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE - 3+ years work experience in Python, or strong experience in another programming language and some exposure to Python - Proficiency in front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript and Vue.js - Expertise in at least one popular Python web framework (preferably Django) or a similar popular web framework in another language (like Ruby or Rails) - Good understanding of SQL and how to efficiently use databases to solve problems - Ability to work effectively in a remote environment - Good problem-solving skills - Good communication skills - Desire to learn new technologies - BS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience/knowledge. We are happy to work with strong candidates with non-traditional educational backgrounds BONUS - Experience working on open-source projects - Experience using with git and GitHub - Strong writing skills BENEFITS - Competitive pay with equity options - Stellar health care plan options (Medical, Dental & Vision), with FSA, DCFSA, & HSA options - Company-sponsored disability & life insurance - Unlimited PTO - 401(k) + 4% Matching - Fully remote work + flexible working hours - $750 work-from-home setup budget - Paid biannual in-person company summits - Quarterly $150 co-hanging stipend to meet up with coworkers - Monthly $100 health and wellness benefit - Generous paid family leave - Annual $1,200 learning & development stipend ABOUT TURQUOISE HEALTH Turquoise Health is a Series C price transparency platform for finance leaders across healthcare.
