Job description

About M7 Health M7 Health is the AI-powered workforce operations platform for healthcare, designed for the realities of clinical staffing and scheduling. We use AI to help organizations forecast demand, auto-balance schedules, and deploy the right person to fill every shift before resorting to premium labor spend. The result: health systems reduce overtime, cut contract labor costs, and give clinical leaders time back to focus on care. Built with the earned wisdom of nurses, M7 serves tens of thousands of healthcare professionals daily and activated over 100 net new hospitals across 29 states, last year alone. In September 2026, M7 was acquired by Ascend Learning and joined its Healthcare Workforce Solutions practice alongside Laudio and StaffGarden. Ascend already works with 60% of U.S. nursing schools. Together, we're connecting the entire clinical career, from the classroom to the first shift and every shift after, with the reach and resources to take on healthcare's biggest workforce problems at national scale. What you’ll do at M7 We’re looking for a Software Engineer to help us redefine how hospitals manage nursing staff. You’ll be a hands-on builder contributing to large technical initiatives and collaborating closely with product managers and healthcare operations experts. Your responsibilities will include: - Execute With Impact: Deliver high-quality, high-visibility features that power hospital operations nationwide. - Leverage AI: Apply AI/ML techniques to enhance scheduling intelligence, streamline workflows, and surface actionable insights for healthcare staff. - Architect Solutions: Help design and evolve our backend for reliability, performance, and growth. - Collaborate Deeply: Partner with Product, Ops, and Customer teams to turn user needs into elegant, impactful solutions. - Maintain Quality: Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code. Support team productivity through code reviews and best practices. - Think Beyond the Code: At our stage, everyone contributes beyond their job description— whether it’s solving customer challenges or refining team processes. You’ll thrive in this role if you: - Startup Energy: You thrive in fast-paced environments, manage ambiguity well, and focus on what moves the needle. - Full-Stack Proficiency: You’re comfortable across the stack and ideally experienced with: - Frontend: React, TypeScript, Vite - Backend: Node.js, NestJS, TypeORM - Database: PostgreSQL - Infrastructure: AWS or similar cloud infrastructure - Builder’s Mindset: You love turning ideas into software and iterating fast based on feedback, and can balance your own contributions with unblocking others on your team. - Product Intuition: You think like a user, making tradeoffs that prioritize usability and real-world impact - Strong Communicator: You explain complex ideas clearly and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. Hybrid Environment We believe a regular cadence of in-person collaboration accelerates learning, reinforces team culture, and drives efficiency for early-stage companies. In this spirit, we work in a hybrid structure, working two days per week in our Manhattan office. Please note that M7 is unable to sponsor or transfer H1B visas at this time. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
