A great backend engineer who decides what to build, without waiting for a PM? Help rebuild how clinics run.
An early-stage healthcare AI startup in New York is tackling the hard version of the problem. Most AI health startups add one more agent on top of old clinic software. This team is building an AI-native platform that runs an outpatient clinic end to end, and clinics that rarely switch systems are switching to it. Its seed round was heavily oversubscribed by leading investors, and the team brings AI product leaders, strong startup engineers and physician executives together.
They're hiring 2 founding engineers .
What you'll own
• Core backend systems of the platform, built AI-native from the ground up
• Product decisions: you talk to users, decide what to build and why, and ship it, with no PM handing you tickets
• Technical debt and onboarding friction, so the growing sales motion never has to pause
• Applied AI on the bleeding edge: research, experiment, ship, at real startup speed
• Daily work with the CEO, CTO and CMO
Must-haves
• Outstanding backend skills, ideally from building something brand new or scaling it early (this isn't a front-end role)
• Genuine product and UX instinct: what you build gets used, and you don't need a PM to spell it out
• A real motivation for an early-stage company: you're drawn by the problem, not by a salary step
• You use AI tools daily to build
• On-site in Manhattan every weekday, on a 9-9-6 schedule
• Roughly 2–7 years of experience; a strong CS or EECS degree is valued, but what you've built counts most
Bonus points
• Something you built that reached real revenue
• About a year of product management on top of engineering
• A deep personal project you built for fun (share the GitHub)
• A personal drive to fix how healthcare works
What's in it for you
• $185k–$250k base + 0.5–1.25% equity
• Founding-level ownership of both product and engineering
• Insurance and a great office in Manhattan
Good to know
• Full-time, on-site in Manhattan, 9-9-6
• Sponsorship is limited: please tell us your exact work authorization up front
• Process: 30-minute founder conversation → three technical interviews → product interview → a final step that fits you (domain research, a product exercise or a paid two-day work trial) → offer
When you apply, please include
• Your CV (PDF), your LinkedIn URL , and GitHub or a link to something you built
• Your current role, and why a seed-stage healthcare company is the right next step
• A product decision you made yourself: what you learned from users and what you shipped
• Your school and degree
• Your current location, and confirmation that on-site Manhattan works for you
• Your visa or citizenship status, and if you'll need sponsorship
• Your base salary expectation, your notice period, and any other interview processes you're in
