Job description
From our nation’s earliest days, ABCorp has been a trusted force in security and innovation. In 1795, the federally chartered Bank of the United States entrusted American Bank Note Company with the mission of producing counterfeit-resistant currency for the young Republic. That legacy established ABCorp as a pioneer in secure printing and shaped our evolution into a global leader in secure manufacturing. What began with protecting America’s financial foundation now drives cutting-edge solutions that safeguard organizations worldwide.
Today, ABCorp operates at the intersection of authentication, payments, and secure access, embracing next-generation (including additive 3D) manufacturing to meet the demands of a digitally driven world. With more than 230 years of expertise, no one understands secure manufacturing and authentication better — or has done it longer. We maintain global reach and compliance across eight locations worldwide and are trusted by fintechs, financial institutions, healthcare companies, governments, and brands in more than 120 countries. We deliver end-to-end innovation through high-security, state-of-the-art facilities that incubate advancements in payments, secure access, and additive manufacturing.
The Team
At ABCorp, our legacy and decades of achievement are powered by an exceptional team that embodies a true startup mindset.
The Product & Engineering organization partners closely with Product Management, Sales, Operations, Customer Success, Security, and our customers to design and deliver the platforms that power our secure financial and card issuance solutions. Our teams build and operate cloud-native SaaS systems and secure production technologies that enable global institutions to issue, manage, and authenticate payment credentials at scale.
Working at the intersection of secure manufacturing, financial technology, and enterprise software, the team translates complex regulatory, operational, and customer requirements into scalable, resilient, and compliant systems. From architecture and platform design to deployment and global production integration, Product & Engineering drives both product innovation and operational excellence across our business.
Our work directly shapes customer experience, system reliability, and the long-term growth of ABCorp’s secure payments platforms worldwide.

The Role
ABCorp is seeking a Principal Software Engineer, Team Lead to anchor and lead a full-stack product team building next-generation financial and card issuance SaaS solutions. This role blends deep technical execution with team leadership within an empowered product model.
You will lead a team of 6–10 engineers while remaining hands-on in architecture, design, and development. Working closely with Product and UX leadership, you will shape scalable, secure cloud platforms that power financial workflows, card issuance, and secure manufacturing for global institutions.
Beyond delivery, you will operate as a product-minded engineering leader — translating business problems into durable technical solutions, ensuring system reliability and data integrity, and building platforms designed for scale, observability, and measurable impact. You will influence cross-functional stakeholders, elevate engineering standards, and help define how our SaaS platforms evolve to support both operational excellence and long-term product strategy.
This is an in-person role based in Boston, MA.
How You’ll Make a Difference
• Lead and contribute hands-on to a full-stack product team building secure financial and card issuance SaaS platforms.
• Architect and implement scalable, cloud-native solutions across frontend, backend APIs, data, and infrastructure.
• Partner closely with Product and UX within an empowered product team, owning discovery, technical direction, and delivery outcomes.
• Guide development of modern web applications using React and/or Angular alongside robust backend APIs and distributed services.
• Design solutions with architectural fluency across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Drive engineering excellence in security, reliability, scalability, and observability within a regulated financial environment.
• Establish best practices for CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Mentor and develop engineers through architecture reviews, pairing, feedback, and technical coaching.
• Ensure secure-by-design development aligned with PCI, EMV, and financial compliance standards.
• Integrate SaaS capabilities with secure financial and card production workflows across global manufacturing sites.
• Serve as the technical decision-maker and escalation point within the team.
• Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to translate card issuance needs into structured product requirements and scalable technical solutions.
Who You Are
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role within cloud-native SaaS environments.
• Proven success launching and scaling secure, high-availability platforms in regulated financial or enterprise environments.
• Strong full-stack expertise across modern web and distributed systems:
• Frontend: React and/or Angular
• Backend: RESTful APIs, distributed systems, service-oriented architecture
• Data: SQL and NoSQL systems
• Deep experience with Azure cloud architecture, with working knowledge of AWS and GCP.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineers while remaining hands-on in architecture, design, and development.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep).
• Experience operating within cross-functional product teams alongside Product and UX, influencing technical direction and delivery outcomes.
• Experience in payments, fintech, card issuance, authentication, identity, or similar regulated domains is highly valued, including familiarity with standards such as PCI-DSS, EMV, ISO 27001, or SOC 2.
• Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS architectures, event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka), and integrating software platforms with hardware or secure manufacturing environments is a plus.
• Native fluency with modern AI-accelerated engineering practices, including tools such as GitHub Copilot Enterprise, Azure OpenAI, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude (including Claude Code), Cursor, and emerging agentic development frameworks. Experience leveraging AI for code generation, refactoring, testing, documentation, system design exploration, and embedding AI capabilities directly into SaaS products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work onsite in Boston, MA.
